PC gamers can request a refund for Shenmue 3 until September 3rd, may not get a Steam key

YsNet has announced that PC gamers can request a refund for Shenmue 3 from today and until September 3rd. If you have backed up this project, you should check your inboxes as Fangamer sent the survey earlier today.

As YsNet noted, refund requests will be accepted only through the backer survey during the survey period. Moreover, refund processing timing may vary depending on payment service and transaction status. Therefore, it may take 20 business days or up to 3 months.

However, it appears that the team may not be able to provide Steam keys for the game. YsNet claims that Valve may not provide/allow YsNet to honor its commitment to its fans.

“As negotiations with Valve are ongoing, we are not able to make a firm commitment at this point concerning the availability of the Steam keys.

Requests for Steam keys will be accepted through the survey, however, there is the possibility that Steam keys will ultimately not be distributed depending on negotiations with Valve. An announcement will be posted in the updates with the outcome of the negotiations.

We apologize for this revision to the previously stated PC option.”

  1. John you might want to fix the article title and the body with the actual cut-off date.

“The survey period will begin when the emails from Fangamer go out on September 20th and will end on 11:59 PM October 3rd, 2019 (JST).”

Wouldn’t want anymore confusion going out regarding this as most people demanding refunds are having trouble with the simple process itself.

  2. Signed the “anyone but Steam” contract and stressing now Valve may not spend their time, money and bandwidth to help them after they begged for free money from people and then took more from Epic. SERIOUSLY what is wrong with devs in this industry now?! Why don’t they get it?! Arrogance? As a community you’re nuts if you back a kickstarter project these days, totally nuts. For the record the devs ruined it for themselves when it was working. Congrats devs! *slow clap*

  3. I’m still blame Dip Sh#tver for this controversy. If Ys Net not partnering with them, this thing won’t happen..

  4. Stab’em backers!
    Sh*t game, sh*t dev studio, sh*tty attitude.
People should massivelly go for refund and them pirate the sh*t out of this crap.
