Bethesda and Avalanche Studios have released the second big update for RAGE 2. According to the release notes, this new patch adds a New Game + mode, as well as an Ironman Mode and the Ultra Nightmare Difficulty.
Moreover, this update comes with a number of Quality of Live improvements. For instance, it adds new options to turn off Damage and Kill notifications on crosshair, adds a camera deadzone slider adjustment to controller options, adds flashlight for navigating dark areas and prevents all pop-up notifications from pausing the game.
Furthermore, Update 2 fixes an issue where you could not fast travel to Kvasir’s lab when there was an objective marker on the location, an issue where the game could freeze while navigating the Phoenix weapon upgrades menu, an issue where bullet decals and blood stopped appearing in the game world after long fights and more.
As always, Steam will download this new patch the next time you launch its client, and you can find its complete changelog below.
RAGE 2 Update 2 Release Notes
NEW GAME +
New Game + is something a lot of players have been asking for, and the team at Avalanche has gone all out for it. Now, when you finish the Project Dagger storyline and complete all of the Arks, you’ll be able to load up New Game +. This will carry over all your weapons, abilities, upgrades, and vehicles, and there will be a little surprise waiting for you when you revisit the Arks in your new playthrough. (Spoiler alert: It’s awesome skins for your weapons.) In addition, you’ll gain prestige badges when you play through the game multiple times, and the difficulty will increase with each additional playthrough.
IRONMAN MODE
Everyone knows Ironman Mode. You die, you lose. Sound tough? Nah. You got this. We believe in you! (Don’t worry, using your Defibrillator doesn’t count as dying.)
ULTRA NIGHTMARE DIFFICULTY
When we talked to one of RAGE 2’s producers about Ultra Nightmare difficulty, he just said it was “crazy hard” and stared off into the distance with a haunted look in his eyes. It’s probably fine, though.
TWITCH BOUNTIES
If you stream RAGE 2 on Twitch, you might end up seeing some familiar names popping up on bounty boards throughout the game. Viewers of your stream will be included in the pool of wanted criminals for you to hunt down.
NEW WASTELAND WIZARD CHEATS
- Dash Ragdoll: Become even more of a living weapon with the Dash Ragdoll Cheat. When you hit Dash you’ll lose all control of your limbs, literally transforming you into a ragdoll as your hurtle toward unsuspecting (and rightfully confused) enemies, instantly killing anyone in your path.
- Super Knockback: You know in anime when the hero punches someone and they fly off into the stratosphere? That could be you with the Super Knockback Cheat. All your melee strikes are amplified to the nth degree so just wind up and watch your enemies fly.
- BJ Blazkowicz Voice Pack: Bring a little Wolfenstein to your RAGE 2 playthrough with the BJ Blazkowicz Voice Pack.
QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS
- Pop-up notifications no longer pause the game
- Camera Deadzone slider adjustment added to controller options
- Flashlight added for navigating dark areas (hold Focus to activate)
- You can now skip Aunt Prowley’s dialog in the opening mission
- Added an option to disable Ark tutorials
- Tracking projects now shows progress on HUD
- New options to turn off Damage and Kill notifications on crosshair
- “You Call That a Wingstick?” and TV Fatal voice packs auto-granted after Bethesda.net account link (previously required buying from Wasteland Wizard)
BUG FIXES
- ChazCar vehicle no longer misaligns Walker through the chassis when at an angle
- Fixed an issue where you could not fast travel to Kvasir’s lab when there was an objective marker on the location
- Fixed an issue where combat music did not play correctly when playing through “The Ranger” mission
- Fixed an issue where the Prowley hologram subtitles did not match VO dialog in Japanese
- Fixed an issue where you could get stuck attempting to access Authority HQ prior to Project Dagger
- Fixed an issue where bullet decals and blood stopped appearing in the game world after long fights

Failing hard. Already discounted by 50% on Steam!
Well i’ll pick it up when it gets to 75%. Well it’s actually a very good game. It’s a solid game that’s just fun and makes you feel powerful. Reminds us what gaming is all about. I just don’ think it’s worse the asking price. I beat the game within the first weak, thanks to the high seas. I’ll definitely buy it later on when it’s cheaper though.

yep thats what killed it, everything you said. It could’ve been so great. On the other hand it ended up being the best Just Cause game since Just cause 2. rage 2 has the original devs of Just Cause 1 & 2. funny how i have to play rage in order to get a proper Just Cause game these days. So sad what avalanche NY did to the JC franchise.
i hate just cause 2. I hate the upgrade system i hate how short the campaign is i hate the camera, i hate how you have to collect every piece of crap to liberate an area, i hate the vehicle controls, i hate the weapons and the vehicles, i hate the visuals, i hate the sound, i hate the qtes, i hate the fact there is no black hand. I enjoyed 1 and 3 more.
WHAT? are you on Crack my friend? You Hate just cause 2 vehicle controls but love JC 3? Ok man, i can’t fault someone for having a preference, but lets just say…. Just cause 2 had the best vehicle control, especially aerial our of all of the games. In JC 3, every time i had to do a plane mission i would cringe and brace myself for frustration. I’ve had a total opposite experience from you, guess this is a preference thing.
But many online who is blowing up steam forums would beg to differ. JC 3 aerial vehicle controls was the worse I’ve ever seen in any VG to date. In JC 2 the game and the chaos system had purpose in JC 3, there was ZERO purpose and that made it feel like another GTA clone. I just hope Avalnche Sweden takes back the game from Avalanche NY in the future.

Yep, for the reason durka durka stated in reply I’ll also only consider picking up Rage 2 when at least 75% off. Currently having fun playing Epic Games Store exclusive Tetris Effect since it’s already been cracked, lol!
bob i’m serious on this question, don’t you think it’s a little too extreme to consider games a failure just because of political views in them?
i didn’t notice any forced politics in rage2 from what i played. if you’re going to sit and count games as good and bad just based on their wokeness or whatever, then there’s nothing going to be left to play.
marketing wise, sure this game is a failure as was mad max but at least they didn’t forget to be fun, at least they have a soul unlike the garbage that ubisoft and ea make.
american krogan has made a video but suffice to say the game isnt sjw preaching, but it is woke, it just doesnt take itself seriously at all, so i dont mind. Its like the entire game is some freaking inside joke and mocks itself 24/7, like you have some lsd bad trip and everything is ridiculous.
I think the failure comes from the super short campaign and lackluster open world, id software made good shooting mechanics but that doesnt save the game.
it’s not a bad game, it’s fun at least. it’s either this or call of duty or apex legend, your choice.

Yeah i find that hilarious because every movie adaptation they are making now is from out generation. I’m 36 so I don’t have much to play. it keeps my pockets full though, cause i’m not about to log unto a game and do “dailys” or grind for “Prime Schitt”. Same gear with 5 stats increase and gold trimmings. Shot out to Warframe, the most pointless game/grind on the market. All i want is a nice single player down the hallway gameplay, none of this open world B.S. Because they are not fooling anyone with “Open World”.

well we do get a lot of oldschool shooters so there is that but to be fair NO ONES TASTE MATTERS, companies have decided they want to become always online with microtransactions for money, they look at asia and they are doing it. No ones opimion matter when it come to money.

So all these GaaS faux-updates and the campaign is still what… 5 hours worth of content along with a bunch of rinse & repeat horde areas? And I thought AC:Odyssey was bad (still is btw). Oh but those “awesome” microtransactions though. What’s in the next update? A new NPC? New lifeless area? Christ, talk about yet another drip fed GaaS scam.
