Borderlands 3 will support cross-play but not at launch

Randy Pitchford has confirmed that Borderlands 3 will support cross-play. However, this won’t be a day-1 feature, meaning that it will be coming to the game via a post-launch update. This may disappoint some fans but we’ll be at least able to play with our friends – that obviously game on different platforms – at some point.

Randy Pitchford claimed that Gearbox is currently working closely with its partners to create a positive cross-play experience as soon as practicable. We are almost certain that Microsoft will not mind a cross-play feature between PC and Xbox One so it remains to be seen whether Sony will give Gearbox the green light.

Borderlands 3 promises to be a hilarious, story-driven, non-stop galactic thrill-ride, filled with colorful characters, epic enemies and boss fights, and literally billions of guns.

The game will be timed-exclusive on the Epic Games Store, will release on September 13th and Gearbox has partnered with AMD for the development of its PC version. As such, you can expect Borderlands 3 to support AMD’s latest visual enhancement/feature that its NAVI graphics cards support, FidelityFX.

  1. But just like their other games it wont support a pro-consumer position with a flat price and subsequent/large expansions by absolutely nixing its con artist devised, banking-like, fee based microtransaction scam model. Cosmetic or not microtransactions are destroying the art form and hurting consumers so much its actually getting me to side with slimy gov regulation in this wild west industry to preserve whats left of gaming.

And then they’re trying to weasel around being on EGS and not discuss it at all.

Put it up on GoG and Steam and get rid of ALL the monetizing scamming. Until then, this looks like another another bargain bin title when it hits $5, how ever long that takes. The Steam release will get price gouged again when it hits so who knows? Not missing much when its pretty much like BL2.

But hey, all those PAID influencers will astroturf hard for them so all good for those starving billion dollar companies, am I right?

    1. G***amn this is one of the best things I’ve read on the net all day. I salute you with my good sir.

    2. I am only truthful and honest, enjoy being limited, put it on Steam or GOG? Enjoy allowing others to control you and your interests .

      Sad little lamb .

        1. Another day, an other sad little lamb, thinking his words have any worth, look at your reply vs mine, and then realize, everyone’s petty insults only effect them, besides me, I only speak faxs, sad little immature lamb .

        2. Who is this idiot? Took me all of one day to block the guy, so I’m guessing it’s some other moron’s alt account or something. Oh well, just one less moron to have to tolerate on here.

        3. Haha yes, i just noticed that this thing shows you who upvoted a comment now. Haha, that idiot upvoted his own mess. So sad..

    3. “…its actually getting me to side with slimy gov regulation in this wild west industry to preserve whats left of gaming.”

You’re not even remotely alone on this, bud. There “is” such thing as good regulation though, and this would be an example of it. This bulls**t has to stop. By force if necessary.

On a side note, it says a lot of the state of humanity, when “influencers”, are even a thing. Who is even remotely “influenced” by some jagoff on YouTube? What degree of brain damage is required, to have one of those sellout morons, convince anyone to buy something?

“Oh boy, my favourite YouTuber says this game is great. They have such an influence on me, that I just can’t help myself, and I’m going to dive face first in to this scam masquerading as a game, because I’m so smart.”

    4. BL3 is bigger and has more unique content than BL2. That means it has more content than the vast majority of games out there. It’s a big game, with huge resources and a lot of dev time behind it (probably more than most AAA games). The people who played it consistently say it’s really good. The post launch monetization will apparently be like BL2. As far as monetization and value for money, it will probably be really good. You will probably more than enough to justify a single game purchase.

Who knows though ? Better wait for reviews and whatnot.

But hey, all those PAID influencers will astroturf hard for them so all good for those starving billion dollar companies, am I right?

Is that just a general statement ? If so, fine… but please tell me this isn’t your way of dismissing all the positive previews that BL3 got ? because that would be a new low in reasoning (the bar is already quite low here).

[Yes, yes, I know, I’m saying all this because Epic paid me too.]

    1. Well, well, Death over the game not being on Steam . I don’t care for Bithford . You’re just a rat as he is . Datri . Fade Away .

      Sad Little Lamb .

  2. Will be pirating this one at launch as an Epic exclusive. May pick it up on Steam later.

    Epic, make piracy great again.

    1. Whoa Tim is scared. Can you please not do that ? He personally called me and told me that he wants you to buy on EGS.

    1. Will it be because it will (probably) get great reception all round and the DSOG comments go into meltdown ?

      1. No, the release will be so disastrous, it will spawn such gigantic amounts of drama and butthurt, surpassing by far the entertainment the game itself could ever offer.
