In a series of tweets, Jay Ingram, Community Engagement Specialist at Electronic Arts, revealed some new details about the upcoming Star Wars game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. According to Ingram, Fallen Order is a project that Respawn wanted to make and EA did not force it to the studio.
This was Respawn’s vision. EA doesn’t prescribe games to developers, just greenlights them.

Ingram also claimed that there are currently no plans for any DLCs, and the priority right now is to create and release a strong self-contained story.
No plans for DLC. We want to release a strong, self-contained story. That’s the priority.

Furthermore, Ingram hinted at more stuff to be shown at June. This obviously means EA will, most likely, release the first gameplay footage at EA Play 2019.
It does seem like June is a good time to show some more stuff, doesn’t it? That sounds pretty safe.

Now while Electronic Arts claimed that the game will not have any microtransactions, its Deluxe Edition did reveal that there will be cosmetics. Ingram did not reveal any additional details so a) these cosmetics can be solely unlocked via in-game currency or b) EA will implement micro-transactions after the game’s release.
There will be cosmetics (as confirmed by the deluxe edition), but we’re not sharing anything beyond that right now.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be a third-person single-player adventure game in which players will take control of Cal who will gain new abilities as they player, allowing them to access and explore new places.
As you play the game, Cal’s abilities will allow him to access places he couldn’t formerly go to. It’s pretty cool.

The game is currently scheduled for a November 15th release!

you’re not arkane studio, that’s for goddamn sure. it’s probably something like locked missions in mass effect 3 that you can do later when story progresses further. creativity is a myth to EA.
you think too big my nibba, it will probably be some hill or tower with collectables that you need force jump level 3 to get on it.
that would be too complex for EA and its studios to design.
“This was Respawn’s vision. EA doesn’t prescribe games to developers, just greenlights them.”
HAHAHAHHAHA you are a funny guy.
“As you play the game, Cal’s abilities will allow him to access places he couldn’t formerly go to. It’s pretty cool.”
HMMMMMMM. That sounds nice.
ha! yea alright, i bet the game won’t even come out.
but, CaL is not seen on rogue one movie or han solo movie or eps IV movie…. >.<
You guys all seem rediculuous now days, bashing everything before it even comes out. Respawn has never put out a game that has screwed anyone over. they made the great games Titanfal, Titanfall 2, and when they were the real Infinity Ward. They put out the all the good call of duty’s before they became trash. I have met Jason West and Vince Zampella, (although Jason west who helped start Respawn when they both left Infinity Ward has retired now ) a couple times any they are both down to earth great guys from the time I spent with them. I have no reason to believe this will be any different then their other games. Hell EA even screwed them over releasing titanfal 2 in the middle of Bf1 and whatever call of duty came that came out the same year. Tanked the sales for Titanfall 2. They even just put out Apex legends which is a very good free to play game. It came out of no ware and was good from the start. I have been coming to this site any many other sites since the internet was invented. Seem like all everybody now days is complain about everything. Boy if I could go back to the good old days when everyone just played games and had a blast. Just my 2 cents!! Bash all you want I expect it from everyone now days.
F off .Its EA.. IT will be sh.t
And i know it nefore they start to develop a game
The end …
Just proving my point everyone now days complains about everything even when the game is not out yet.
You could say the same about fanboys who hype shet up before they have any details.
It will be sh.t no matter what are you think. Have a braincell and read some history about EA. They dont make games… They make money……

As one of those people who played before it even launched, I already quit the game for good. I left it installed for a week or two, telling myself I’d go back to it, but I decided I’d rather have that 80gb back.
Some healthy scepticism never hurt any consumers 🙂
Respawn has good rep, sure, but it never hurts to be cautious, especially with EA involved.
Because it is …
Its called the dark side of gaming…..
Not happy news of gaming
LMAO
First of all Jason West isn’t retired, he works for Epic. He was retired.
Second, it is practically a guarantee that the mainstream AAA game development industry can’t produce a good game. Can’t. Not won’t, can’t. It’s a result of the atmosphere, the money-hungry, art-irrelevant crusade to put out a product for profit – not for the sake of making a good product and then making money because it’s good. It’s an environment that destroys creativity and forces creative people through a screen and those who are lucky get out of it and get to form their own studio or work at a studio with similar people. All corporate environments are like that because profit isn’t about ideas, creativity, or thinking, unless it’s creative thinking about how to screw people out of their money.
You’d be hard pressed to name one truly good “AAA” game that’s come out in years. I mean truly good. We’re not talking RE2 Remake, Sekiro, DMC5, God of War, no. A good game. A Baldur’s Gate, Elder Scrolls 2, Bard’s Tale, Diablo 2 level game.
I’m not going to count Mass Effect 1, either, or Witcher 3, because they aren’t. They have their own huge flaws.
I’d be ecstatic if any of these big houses – EA, Ubi, Squeenix, Take Two, Actiblizzion – could produce a game that isn’t trash. The reality is they can’t. Seriously, they can’t. Anthem was garbage. Andromeda was garbage. BF5 was flaming garbage. Apex was an accident. Titanfall 2 was great, and Titanfall 1 was pretty decent. DA:I sucked to. Far Cry 5 was vapid, cookie cutter trash as was its standalone expansion. Odyssey is decent sure, Origins was pretty cool, but every AC game after 3 lacks any cohesion or interesting narrative. Should I really go on? Hitman 1 and 2 were okay, at least they are real hitman games compared to the trash SE was putting out like Absolution. FF15 – ehhhhhhhh. FF13/-2/LR, EHHHHHHHHHHH. Decent stories and graphics but completely lacking most of the elements that made FF what it used to be. Did anyone even play Shadow of the Tomb Raider? I’ve heard literally nothing about that game, ever. No reviews, no one talks about it, no one says it’s good or bad.
Take Two? GTA5 blows. I’m not sorry, it’s not a good game. The SP is boring AF and is barely a step above 4. RDR 1 and 2 are both boring as well. Other than that, what has T2 even produced lately? Bioshock is gone. Borederlands is boring AF and only succeeds because people like mindless shoot and loots.
Sounds like you just don’t like games, period
That is the basic point I was trying to make. No body likes anything anymore. Well other then complaining about stuff. I have played so many good games in my life, but I have play some really bad games too and even though they were bad I finished them. I payed for them I sure was going to finish it. Daikatana, Duke nuke forever ,Aliens: Colonial Marines to name a few.
I am 50 years old and don’t see things changing. The loot box controversy is the thing that has ruined gaming to me. I hope that they outlaw them at the upcoming FTC loot box investigation.
There’s still the occasional excellent game. I’m currently playing Stardew Valley with my wife, it’s great! I could give you dozens of excellent game recommendations if you want
I was unaware Jason West took a job at Epic last I knew he retired from Respawn 2013 do to family issues. Here is what I found as he is now working for epic.
Respawn and Infinity Ward co-founder returns to game development after six-year hiatus. Jason West has returned to game development. Geoff Keighley broke the news today on Twitter, reporting that West has been working at Epic for the past month. Posted 5 days ago
It’s EA. It’s not ridiculous to be jaded or skeptical if you’ve been burned for your purchases well more than once. That being said. I’m not vocal about EA anymore. Let them run games how they want to. I haven’t bought a game from EA since bad company 2, and tbh, thats about when it dropped off. I see the same warning signs from Bethesda. But hey, if you want to call people’s cynicism madness, maybe look at the industry as a whole first.
Oh please. This small, art-loving, starving indie studio act by big AAA to bolster hype is tiring. Fine, all the “right” corporate conditions may have come, the stars all shining brightly, during a bull stampede running through Time Square on the day of the vernal equinox for a damn decent star wars game to come out of all of this to save the IP for Disney and EA – but lets not try to buuuullsh*t everyone about what happens in a company.
Game dev is not some mystical elusive unicorn, especially for those of us who work in non-gaming tech fields. Doesn’t matter if “EA doesn’t prescribe games.” There are teams of MBAs and their thralls across corporations paid millions that come in (whether internally or outsourced to a firm) and review developing products – doesnt matter wtf the product is – specifically to figure out how to make the most money. The people with the money want to take the thing they paid workers to make and make MORE money. Normally this is planned way ahead of time for regular products but in software products, i.e. games, and their “iterative” dev cycle, those teams continuously monitor development for optimal opportunities to chop it up and sell it. That is their ONLY purpose with absolute detachment to art or anything else.
EA’s teams and predatory monetizing compliant execs and shareholders may be “easing up” for this one single game but they still happen to be lead by salivating vampires.
Doubt
Seeing a little wall run in the trailer…this game will feature elements from Titanfall 2 SP and the next Titanfall game will be build on the UE4 as they could take elements from this game.
Vince (Respawn) still doesn’t trust EA, isn’t using Frost bite engine and this is good for us.
Yeah I saw that too, pretty neat I guess.
I’ll believe it when I see it. But if true, it just highlights even more how Bioware is an absolute failure and the blame isn’t on EA for all their screwups these past ten years.
“the priority right now is to create and release a strong self-contained story”
Fingers crossed that the SJW clique that is the Lucasfilm Story Group has no input.
Lies, lies and more lies.
Lies, deception
Okay first of all, who let this corporate monkey out of his cage? Stfu Jay Ingram.
Spare us the blatant lies. We know EA DOES prescribe and dictate the way a game goes. They did it with Dead Space 3 and most definitely did it with other games.
As Yashai said, this isn’t new. It isn’t unique to game development either. Any company’s goal is to make as much money as physically possible. So don’t give us the bullcrap act.
“As you play the game, Cal’s abilities will allow him to access places he couldn’t formerly go to. It’s pretty cool” ????? this is just basic backtracking. When did backtracking become such a cool feature?????
I’ve heard something about “optional multiplayer” and I’m not even surprised because, you know… it’s EA right?!
Do they mean cosmetics bonuses from pre-ordering and special editions?! Or do they mean there will be a store in the game? Because if there is a store I want Jabba as the trader 😛
