Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice runs silky smooth in 4K/Max settings with constant 60fps on NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has just been released and we’ve decided to share some 4K screenshots from its PC version, and share our initial performance impressions. As such, we’ve included MSI Afterburner in the following screenshots in order to give you an idea of how the game runs on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti in 4K.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is powered by the same engine that Dark Souls 3 used. Therefore, and as many may have guessed, the game runs silky smooth on the PC platform.

In 4K on Max settings, our NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti had no trouble at all running the game with constant 60fps (the game is locked at 60fps so this may disappoint those wishing to run the game at 120fps or 144fps).

We’ll have more to share in our upcoming PC Performance Analysis, however we can safely say that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is well polished on the PC. It’s crystal clear that this title originates from consoles, however the PC version was handled with care.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. As a side note, the Steam forums are full of people who are complaining about unplayable framerates, frame drops and stutter on a variety of systems (seeming all with Nvidia cards but that could just be statistical at this point).
Anyone know what is going on there?

    1. I tried it yesterday after work for a bit, finished the prologue and made it to what looks like this game’s equivalent of Firelink. It ran perfectly at 60fps 1080p, all settings on high (default), I had no issues with the controller, which is another thing I’m seeing reported on the forums. My CPU is an i5 6600k and my GPU is a GTX 970, I’m on Win7 and using a wireless xbox 360 controller.

I’ve seen reports that unplugging secondary monitors improves the framerate, in my case I have one monitor and a TV connected via HDMI cable and I played the game on the TV without issue and without having to unplug my monitor.

Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but if anybody has a similar setup to mine I’d say it will probably work fine.

      1. Thanks for that. From what I’m seeing, anyone running on a TV is fine. It is mostly people who have a second monitor connected, or sometimes even just one monitor but an iGPU (maybe the game is running off of that instead).
Either way, just seems like a bug and not general performance issues and will hopefully be patched soon.

    2. “the Steam forums are full of people who are complaining about unplayable framerates…”

Exaggeration, much. There are presently about 3 such comments about performance on the whole of the forum’s first page and 2 of those are about a guy playing it on a laptop.

        1. So a total of a whole 4-6 posts on the matter means the forum is “full of people” commenting on it. Okaaaaaaay.

          “seeming all with Nvidia cards”
I’ve seen a couple of AMD GPU users complaining too.

Performance is a train wreck on consoles according to Digital Foundry’s latest video.

          1. How is it possible that you are so incredibly dense at all times? Can you just not process an entire sentence? That was on the first page of Steam. Use your eyes and I dare say it, your brain to process some information.
I can’t handle this mind numbing ignorance resonating from you any longer.

          2. ?

Your mental breakdown from yesterday’s Sekiro thread continues. Maybe I’ll now pirate the game just to further savour those salty tears of yours. Git gud, as they say!

    3. The game is running fine for me without any stuttering, I get 50-60 fps on high. I hope this helps 😉

    1. Do you have a second monitor? Mines locked at 20 also and I read unplugging or disabling through control panel any extra monitors should fix it. I need to try this afternoon.

Edit: it works, 60 fps for me. I had to physically unplug the hdmi cable.

          1. Do you even have the game? Or are you just unplugging to get higher fps on all games?

  2. gameplay is fun as hell, i hope fsoftware borrows from this in their next games, combat is disgustingly simple as if it was made by cavemen in dark souls games but it gets praised by low iq autists.

  3. Trying the game, it runs fine at least on my system, 2600K/GTX1060. But the game still suffers from the problems this dev studio has always had even in dark souls, BS hitboxes and stupid and unpolished ragdoll which combined together are a lethal mix for a frustrating and annoying game session.

    1. You mean the ragdoll physics on corpses that were in Dark Souls 1 and 3? Because I played the prologue of this and there were no ragdolls, I just ran through dead enemies and they didn’t move at all.

      1. No what i mean that enemies bodies don’t really work properly you might get stuck on them, not while dead, while alive, they don’t really respond properly to world and the same stuff happens with hitboxes.

  4. Runs better than Dark Souls III, loving so far.

No issues whasoever on a RX 570, stable 60FPS on max settings (1080p). CPU usage doesn’t go beyond 20% on a Ryzen 1600.

  5. “PC version was handled with care”
Haha, yes, especially those forced xbox pad icons
Edit: Actually you can change them 🙂 My bad.

      1. Now I feel stupid, I totally overlooked this setting, thanks 🙂 I retract my comment 🙂

  6. Quick question – can I remap controls to my mouse’s thumb buttons, as well as center button, scroll wheel button?

  7. Good thing I stopped by here before buying the game I can take this out of my greenmangaming cart. I will wait to see if they put out a patch for 144fps before putting anything down on this title.
