Respawn has announced that its free to play title, APEX Legends, has surpassed 50 million players in its first month. APEX Legends came out of nowhere and has managed to captivate the interest of pretty much all players on all platforms.
Thank you to the 50 million players that have shown up in the first month since Apex Legends launched! You have all made this something special and there's much more to come! pic.twitter.com/EoDcjF5q9E

APEX Legends had previously surpassed over 10 million players and had breached 1 million concurrent players in just three days, and surpassed 25 million players and had over 2 million concurrent players peak in its first week.
In case you weren’t aware of, APEX Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game where characters battle for glory, fame, and fortune on the fringes of the Frontier.
According to the game’s stats, there have been 158 million finishers and 170 million respawns, 1.23 billion ultimates have been activated, and 31 billion pings have been placed.
Those interested can download this F2P game from EA’s Origin client!

Good I hope this surpasses 500 million users by tomorrow and gets rid of the Fortnite cancer that is ruining gaming.
Why do you want to destroy our daycare center?
EA is better than Epic. I will give them that much.
I am not too sure about that. But both companies are definitely not going to be getting my money easily that I am sure about.
I agree, but Epic is worse, even if only slightly.
Hard disagree. EA normalized the horrible business trends that plague the AAA industry we see today. Epic isnt on my list of companies im willing to support but they arent nearly as bad as EA, not by a longshot. Yes, fornite is horrendous, the exclusivity BS is anti-consumer and their launcher is devoid of any features but they didnt normalize lootboxes, microtransactions, buying then destroying studios on a normal basis, etc. If you actually think Epic Games is worse than EA, you have no idea whats actually going on in the games industry.
You do realize this game is single handendedly keeping ea alive?
The game that is keeping EA alive is FIFA.
Unfortunately EA is not going die so easily even if Apex Legends never existed. Their EA Sports and Mobile Division is also making a lot of money. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is going to be a huge blockbuster hit for them as well.
And how is this any different?!!
All these online F2P games are cancer to “quality” gaming!
Well EA doesn’t buy 3rd party exclusives for Origin for starters. That’s how it’s better.
Game still crashes with every new Nvidia driver update.
Mostly on Turing tho, my 1060 is fine so far.
It’s weird how Nvidia GPUs keep crashing.
I have crashed ONCE in 106 hours with an RX580 and I got an error message.
I’m a bit scared as I’m looking for a 1660ti in the near future.
Dude stay away from the Turing. I keep getting a crash that says engine error your video card has been physically removed from your system (only in Apex).
game crashes way less if you kill all programs, start game once, and never alttab, but its damn hard to manage
TY, I saw that suggestion online. Like you said hard to always do. Having Hulu open in Chrome seemed to always cause a crash.
Dont forget 50 trillions of crashes!
Happy I’m not one of these 50 millions. I liked PUBG but it is garbage from performance and server perspective.
Why are you happy for missing out when everyone else is out dancing and having fun.
How odd.
LOL
LOL
LOL
Cause I have much better games to play than dumb BR
Apex Legends will drop 50M players, as soon as the next “flavour of the month” comes along. This whole online game garbage, just has no staying power whatsoever.
Not long ago that “overwatch” seemed unstoppable. Then came pubg, then fortnite, now apex. I can’t be bothered to invest time in something, that will be left behind for something shinier, by the same time next year.
The turnover rate, will only get faster.
Haha, ya I know. Just tossing my 2 cents in as I usually do.
Certainly happy for Respawn though. After getting shafted by EA on TF and TF2, it’s nice to see them hit it with Apex.
So, good for them especially.
TF and TF2 are reserved acronyms, and should`t be used in the same sentence with anything EA related 😉
Titanfall is another story.

What is your point here exactly? That you only care about games when they are the most popular? Or only if they last for a decade?
Your whole argument just seems very silly, like all these game that weve had for the past 3 decades or so dont matter becouse there arent 50mil players online at all time.
Yup Respawn is so much more than a f2p mobile model scam. Just like gamers argued all last gen, would much rather pay for a full fledged, top quality, top content Respawn title with zero monetizing that included a great campaign, many multiplayer modes, and even include more than one single BR map for the mainstream casual brohards who dont care about the industry or the art and just their headless chicken on meth pew pews. EA could have easily funded a big title and shoved Apex into it as one of the modes.
It’s fine it exists and the conditioned iGenners are playing, but lets not pretend that this is more than a shallow f2p scheme nor will it ever be a replacement to those of us who know gaming as not including stealth price gouging mobile models and were looking forward to a good full game. Regardless of what aaaaaany PR spews out, now that EA got such a huge a slice of that casual Fornite pie no blockbuster TF2-like Respawn title will be coming that wont be full of typical EA monetizing scamming.
Games are an art form like movies, music, and books, and Respawn is so much better than this. TF2 was the last game I played at all from EA and for good reason.
This is childish logic.
Play the game if its fun. Especially when its completely free. Stop playing when it gets boring.
What does it matter if they’ll be a new game the next month when you can enjoy a fun game now.
I don’t even like BR and this sh*t is the best game I’ve played in a long a*s time!
Top tier studios like Respawn can beat games like Fortnite in their sleep and are much better than some mobile model trash mode stripped out and pitched as a full game just for the publishers to shove yet another marketplace in casuals’ faces. BR games, especially Fortnite, are mindless, stream-friendly, one-trick-ponies built to watch like a tv show with an attention starved chat vs actually playing.
When you look at actual substance and not view them through the publisher suggested filters of being wallet siphoning machines and “top viewership” on the Publisher Advertising Channel known as Twitch it’s clear that Respawn didnt have much to fight. EA paid streamers to play this too – like all AAA does with all their games. Fast food, shallow gut fix with all the celebrity and marketing gimmick reliance that comes with it – everything but real gaming. More likely than not – and as historical evidence has proven in the past – EA was resistant to another flat priced, AAA tier Respawn title due to the billions AAA makes from monetizing games with the depth of Candy Crush (regardless of what the PR says they are doing with TF), so Respawn showed them this model.
The problem is people being conditioned for so long due to mobile schemes (like Iwata warned us) and publishers’ “monetize everything or kill it off” models – with the goals being everything but the artistic expression first in an artistic medium.
Seeing Respawn making f2p is like watching a world class musician playing on buckets in a back alley – especially when you know they have so much art to give to the world.
Breaks my damn heart.
But how? Kids these days don’t want RTS or strategy games anymore? Or dungeon crawlers ?
I can bet my sweet a*s that they just red forknife suggestion forums, and made game according to that, and that they will kill game with negligence in next 6 months!
