Electronic Arts confirms a new Need for Speed game that is under development

Electronic Arts today announced preliminary financial results for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31st, 2018, and revealed that a new Need for Speed game is currently under development. Moreover, the publisher will have some new Titanfall experiences (and no this isn’t Titanfall VR as some were speculating).

Unfortunately the big publisher did not reveal any additional details for the new Need for Speed game. Our guess is that Ghost Games will develop, once again, this new racing game which will most likely take advantage of the Frostbite Engine.

As COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen said:

“FIFA stands out as a robust franchise through a tumultuous year in the video game industry. Elsewhere in the business, we’re making adjustments to improve execution and we’re refocusing R&D. Looking forward, we’re delighted to launch Anthem, our new IP, to grow Apex Legends and related Titanfall experiences, to deliver new Plants vs. Zombies and Need for Speed titles, and to add Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to our sports titles in the fall.”

So basically EA has just confirmed a new Plants vs. Zombies, a new Need for Speed, and a new Titanfall experience. Here is hoping that these three games are not some mobile spin-offs and that they will be proper games for current-gen platforms!

  1. I bet $1000 that it will have microtransactions and/or will be cancelled and the studio making it will be shutdown.

    1. Given what abysmal sales Payback was and given it was basically a lootboxfest and with microtransactions plagued progression system, I think they’ll do another “NFS 2015” în the sale it will be a pure, proper racing games with no dumb gimmicks that might scare consumers.

  2. EA so more mobile model scams incoming. Now they are openly stealing personal property data without consent (before they tried to hide it with Origins) to cover those unwilling to buy overpriced microtransaction assets like the goddamn leeching viruses they are. And if this new Need for Speed is labeled Free to Play, it wont at all actually be “free” just like Apex isn’t and paid by the above schemes and advertised on the Publisher Advertising Channel known as Twitch.

Everything costs in this world and marketing is good at conning people into thinking they are not being preyed upon with that “free” label EA is getting away with right now.

  5. Calling anything out of EA these days a “game”, is doing the word game, a disservice. Let’s call them what they are. Money siphoning programs.

    1. Allready waiting the next f*k up from EA. Anthem Release is close and it allready seems a promising as a f*k up 😀 :D: D I am amazed they still exsist sometimes. Probably thanks to the SPORTS games.

  6. Everyone is expecting the next NFS game to be a racer. EA should change things up and make it a battle royale shooter. Be original.

    1. I just hope they can make a story that one can withstand sitting through. Enjoyable would be nice, but tolerable is a start. I have not enjoyed a Need for Speed in many a years due to horrible scripting.

  7. seriously.. are the top people in EA gamers? they seems like having no idea about gaming. if they have employed me instead, they probably make much more money.

  8. “… and to add Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to our sports titles in the fall”. So Star Wars Battle Royale?

  9. If it is not as good as Forza Horizon 4 or better then there is no point plain and simple.

Having said that I wish them luck, I have Payback and it is pretty good I enjoy it. Still Horizon 4 is KING! Will see…

      1. I agree, it does not even compare to Forza Horizon. There are so many road blocks and areas off limits, it isn’t even funny. So many rocks one could normally drive or grind over if given permission.

      2. Yeah, there is no comparison to Horizon 4. So it makes me wonder what on earth are they making? Must be a phone game… that would really suck.

Well if it is a PC title and as good as Horizon 4 or better but with all the modification to the cars + the cops and chases that would be amazing.

Not going to hold my breath though but I am still dreaming some what, surely they played or know about Horizon 4 by now right? Or am I giving EA too much credit?

  10. Yea going to be sh*t or filled with such bullshit microtransactions that it makes the game sh*t.

Or worst case scenario a mixture of both. Which knowing EA, this is the most likely to be true

“we’re making adjustments to improve execution”
Read: We may need to re-evaluate our strategy because #getwokegobroke is killing our IP, our share price has slumped and our investors are understandably mad at us. We hope you don’t ever notice the appalling double standard of us feigning concern for ‘social justice’ issues while at the same time tempting young children to gamble.

Also, we’re concerned by our incompetence insofar as Anthem runs like hot garbage on every single platform which may negatively impact sales.

  14. I’ve always been a huge fan of the NFS franchise but man this one has been going down. Last game i couldn’t play more than 10minutes before alt+f4ing and uninstalling. Glad i had gotten the 5$/month basic origin subscription backthen. Not thinking much of this new title.

  15. Need For P-EA-nissucking.

After Payback, I have zero interest. I’ll go and play Underground 1 or 2 on PC or PS2. Those aren’t online only like 2015! No lootboxes and microtransactions either!
