STR_Paragor and a team of modders are working on a fan remake of the first Painkiller game in Unreal Engine 4, called Painkiller: Redux. The team has successfully ported all the levels of the game’s first chapter and released some new screenshots that you can find below.
According to its description, Painkiller: Redux aims to brig the first Painkiller game in Unreal Engine 4 in order to create a good co-op and new gameplay experiences, as well as a platform for the development of subsequent plot modifications.
Although there is no ETA yet on when this remake will come out – or whether there will be a demo for its first chapter – the team has managed to port all levels from the first chapter, all types of ammunition, all types of weapons, all types of health, and the original setting of the sky. Furthermore, gameplay elements were written for the enemy’s spawn, the appearance of control points, as well as the main menu.
The team also aims to improve the graphics when this project nears its complete state so it will look better than what is being showcased here.
It will be interesting to see whether the team will be able to complete Painkiller Redux as it sounds like a really overwhelming and huge project.
Until we have more details about it, enjoy the following screenshots!

John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”

There already is a Painkiller Remake but in Unreal Engine 3 and it looks 999% better than this and it is official game not fan made.
Yes, that’s “Painkiller: Hell and Damnation” by the way, but, it was actually a sequel. and a “partial” REMAKE of the original painkiller game (as far as I’m concerned).

Nothing beats the original! Get the Painkiller Black Edition and install a few visual mods, Reshade, etc and enjoy! Its killer fun!
PK lite with PK++ is amazing for multiplayer og pk is the only way to go fer me. graphics still look decent to me with high settings although i usually turn on picmip so the graphics dont rly affect or mean much to me since i dont play with high graphics lol. alot of good work done with it since pk++ from the 2005/06 days when the game was actually at tournaments. the euros stuck around and really progressed the gameplay and then the extra features/settings they added to the menu are rly useful. We still have a small eu discord and an even smaller NA discord with a good few people that still play some duels every now n then.
So what? It’s one of the best shooters ever. Well after all you’re still the one who said deus ex md is a great game.
The irony of this article just below the Apeiron article. lol These “fan remakes”, need to just f*** off. None of them will come to completion, so stop giving them attention already.
Hmm sure I’ll play it! But please just fix the hitboxes!!
I feel like the movement would feel super off in unreal 4 unless the hacked the engine good enough to make the movement identical i guess. but i doubt it.
