Anthem demo coming on February 1st, new details revealed, new screenshots released

Electronic Arts and Bioware have released some new details about Anthem, and released a new set of screenshots from it. Anthem is powered by the Frostbite 3 Engine and even though it may not appeal to a respectable amount of gamers – gameplay-wise – we can safely say that it looks absolutely gorgeous.

According to the developers, a demo will be released on February 1st, prior to the game’s official release. However, there is a catch. This ‘VIP Demo” will only be available to those who have pre-ordered the game or EA Access members, and will be a real representation of the final game.

As lead producer Mike Gamble said:

“The demo is a demo. It’s not a tech test, it’s not a beta that comes out three weeks before the game where ‘your feedback’ – like, no, it’s ‘this is the game and we hope you love it,’ and at that point that’s really what we’re showing.”

Furthermore, Gamble confirmed that the game won’t allow trading between players when it launches. In other words, this will be similar to Destiny where players could not trade weapons or items. Bioware may add it at some point, however Gamble claimed that this will introduce a lot of balancing concerns.

Last but not least, executive producer Mark Darrah  stated that the game will offer two dialogue options everytime players speak to an NPC. Bioware claims that this will help bring the game to a new audience, and that it will avoid all the false choices we often see in game dialogues of other games.

“We are talking to a different audience. An audience that isn’t used to these kinds of decisions in conversation. We wanted it to be simpler, but we also didn’t want to present you with any false choices, where it’s like ‘here’s three choices that lead to the same place.’”

    1. I wouldnt say its 0, but i do think its building up to be the kinda game that does quite well at launch but then dies a month in. I think after the initial hype fades people will go right back to Fornite, Pubg, CS, Overwatch etc.

      1. Oh, I don’t plan to buy it. lol I haven’t played a pancake game in over a year. I just watch playthroughs on YouTube while I work. I do it with all new games.

  1. Every time when I see Anthem only one word come to my mind “Lame”
This game has little to no hype at all !

    LOL !!!

  2. Do they mean the regular origin access or origin access “prime” which they also have now? And isnt OE supposed to give you 10hours of early access to the game instead of just some “demo”? This is all kinda confusing…

  3. Demo for these kinda games are highly misleading. Experienced it with The Division. Graphics and gunplay novelty remain for few minutes. You think you would like the game and buy, then you realize you’re doing teh same thing over and over and over again and expect it to change. Now I’m not insane enough to fall for it this time

  4. I remember when ME: Andromeda came out I was thinking this might be the end of the road for ME games. Like what happened with the Dead Space series after DS3 (sales not good enough) but they might already be working on the next ME.

Casey Hudson said a couple of months ago that they would return to ME at some point. EA reported in their Quarterly Financial Statement last summer that ME: Andromeda was a financial success and I’m sure it’s sold more by now. That’s all EA wants. Money. If they made money from ME: A then that’s enough incentive to proceed with another one.

EA’s CEO has admitted that ME: A didn’t live up to the quality of the previous trilogy. He just needs to assign it to a different team than the one that made ME: A.

    1. What Hudson doesn’t realize yet is that Mass Effect is done. The IP is dead. He should move on and create something new.

      1. You could very well be right. He might be thinking about doing something like a prequel to the ME trilogy before Shepard but possibly with some of the same NPCs, only younger.

In any case the trilogy was his baby (as he refers to it) and it doesn’t seem he’s ready to let go of it just yet.

        1. Hudson should’ve made a spin off based on the First Contact War instead of an awful remake of Mass Effect 1 (ME:A). Sure, we know how it ends but it could’ve been interesting to see how it happened exactly (like GoW Judgment).

  5. EA says “The Demo is a Demo”
No EA, it’s not a Demo, if we have to pay you cash to play it.
Demo’s are free to all, this Is a ripoff.

  6. “the game will offer two dialogue options everytime players speak to an NPC.”
Just like ME:Andromeda, the answers will be “yes” and “sure”.

  7. “I hope Bioware is aware how many people dislike this game even now”
Look at the comments section of their latest video, they still have fans.
