The Crew 2 – Post-release content detailed, major free updates every three months

Ubisoft today revealed the post-launch plan for its upcoming open-world racing game The Crew 2. The game releases on June 29th and the development team will introduce significant new content through regular updates. Major free updates will occur every three months to expand the game’s experience, enrich its world and bring new disciplines, modes and features.

The game’s first update, Gator Rush, will be released September 2018 and will let players enjoy a tropical cocktail of bouncy fun and wacky races on all kinds of surfaces and playgrounds, mastering a new and exotic discipline: the Hovercraft. This free update will also introduce five completely new vehicles to the line-up, as well as the new “Legendary” rarity level on performance parts that players will be able to collect in game. In addition to major updates, two new vehicles will be added to the existing line up each month.

More exciting new vehicles and features are being announced, including a brand new PvP mode planned for the second major free update, to be released this December.

Ahmed Boukhelifa, Ivory Tower Managing Director, said:

“Continuous expansion and renewal has always been at the core of our vision for the franchise. For players, this means they will always find new activities and things to discover – or re-discover from another perspective.”

  1. Nice. Yet another Ubisoft pile of schlock, which makes the disc 99.9% redundant to own. What a shocker.

“Continuous expansion and renewal has always been at the core of our vision for the franchise. For players, this means they will always find new activities and things to discover – or re-discover from another perspective.”

None of these “AAA” piles of crap will give a single thing for “free”. If they are “giving” anything away with this hand, then they’re stealing your wallet, or at least trying to, with the other.

Also, this is Ubisoft. Get real.

    1. Did you even watch the vid or why are you so mad? Vid explicitly states that all content will be free, except for a few launch exclusive cars for season pass owners, but even those users will only have 7 day early access to stuff that other players will be able to access for free. This is way better than TC1, where a lot of content divided the playerbase because it was behind DLCs.

The industry is slowly changing, get over it. BFV won’t have Premium nor loot boxes, and from Ubi you have the R6S example where all the operators can be unlocked by playing.
