EA’s new triple-A open-world Star Wars game will feature a single-player narrative campaign

Back in March, we informed you about a new triple-A open-world game that is being developed by EA Vancouver. And today, we have some new information about this Star Wars title. According to another job listing, this upcoming Star Wars game will feature a single-player narrative campaign.

As the description of the job listing reads:

“Work with the Creative Director, Game Director and Lead Writer to align all connected features with the single-player narrative and gameplay into a cohesive experience.”

Now while the job listing states that there will be a single-player mode, we don’t expect it to be as deep as the single-player mode of the Star Wars game that Visceral was working on. Perhaps EA will try to create a single-player experience similar to Destiny 2?

As said, this Star Wars game is most likely the re-imagination of Visceral’s cancelled Star Wars game. Back in October 2017 when EA shut down Visceral Games, the publisher stated that it will shift the game to be a broader experience with the aim of allowing for more variety and player agency. The game will still be using the Frostbite Engine and its development team will re-imagine central elements of the game to give players a Star Wars adventure of greater depth and breadth to explore.

EA Play is around the corner so there is a probability that the publisher will release a teaser trailer during that event (though nothing is set in stone as of yet).

  1. Basically it sounds like they’re looking for someone to come in and clean up the mess that was made from stopping work mid-project rather than start from scratch. This game has development hell written all over it. Doesn’t mean it’ll be bad but I have my doubts.

    1. Not really it was originally dead space. The second game was more actiony and the third was trash. Just make one like the first game but make it survival horror.

  5. I’m probably the only gamer that never bothered playing any licensed Star Wars games. Some are probably good, but i have zero interest in the Franchise

EA is a company who’s only interest is to make a product that will sell tons of copies, they don’t care about your feelings up to a point. So if you find yourself feeling “Upset” because a large publisher lied to you, then it’s time to turn off Sponge Bob and grow a spine you mental midget.

          EA does it and the game flops and the studio shuts down. Like 200 times over, how many times do we have to teach this to ea? They keep doing it, they dont make money, they lose them. They failing their own stockholders. You would think ea has a ton of successful ips and making money but they dont, they lose money and run out of ips.

  7. All EA wants is money! They’ll find some way to screw over the gamers in the long run. They bankroll developers with millions upon millions of dollars through development and marketing costs and they want a return on their investment?! HA! Talk about greed! We as entitled gamers must stand together against EA and tell them that even though we play all their games, and will continue to do so, that we WILL NO LONGER… until the next one.

    The point is micro transactions MUST GO AWAY! Gamers have absolutely no self control and will buy every loot box available just because it’s there, the devious problem is… they have unlimited stock since it’s digital so we’re spending all our money on loot boxes even if we don’t really want to! Sort of don’t want to! STAND WITH ME FELLOW GAMERS! #UNITE

    1. If you really think you can make a dent in EA’s finances, especially one that actually matters, you’re truly dumber than I thought before. The fact you think Gamer’s can Unite and get anything actually done about the problem is hysterical.

      You’re talking about a company who brushed off the Battlefront 2 Loot Box Issues with executives basically saying “Eh, we still made billions, who gives a s*** if they’re in or not”, disabled them for a few months to feel like you mouth breathers won, and then put them back in the game when the time was right and reaped the benefits.

      Microtransactions are here to stay without a law being passed calling them gambling. Even BF:V is going to have them with skins and other things in order to pay for the lack of premium, they know they can make enough money on SKINS to support what used to be 30-40 dollar passes.

  10. Will it feature yet another female protagonist, because “4thewomen”?.

    I’ve noticed EA is pushing a forced pandering, and not one that actually fits. If the new SW SP game features another female lead, it will only prove that point all the more.
