Saibot Studios has announced that Hellbound, its ridiculously violent ‘90s-inspired first-person shooter will release in 2019. A free Survival Mode teasing the potential of a full campaign is available today on Steam for those who want to get a taste of the slaughter.
Hellbound is described as a ‘90s FPS, 20 years later with old-school gameplay, and new-school quality, powered by Unreal Engine 4. In the Survival Mode available today for free, Hellgore smashes and blasts monsters in a wave-based arena, reveling in chaos as heavy metal and industrial music chugs in the background. Every wave summons hordes of enemies to cleave through.
Five weapons round out Hellgore’s arsenal in Survival Mode, with more to come through frequent updates. The Headcrusher, Simple Shotgun, Triple Shotgun, Indolora (remember Ol’ Painless from Predator?), and Rocket Launcher are his implements of destruction as he takes on the soldiers of Hell. Power-ups like Hell Damage, Hell Speed, and Hell Skin increase your attack power, speed, and explosive resistance respectively.
If Kickstarter funding goals are met, Survival Mode becomes just a teaser for the single-player campaign Saibot Studios wants to create. Even more weapons, enemies, power-ups, and Hellgore’s full story are on the way if Hellbound accrues $100,000. Multiplayer modes including co-op and death matches can become a reality.
Tobias Rusjan, founder of Saibot Studios, said:
“Classic ‘90s first-person shooters were my favorite games growing up and they introduced me to video game development. I want to share that love by taking those ideas and dialing them up to 11 in the 21s century.”

This game ROCKS ! I think you have posted an article on this title before as well.
I just hope it makes through this Kickstarter campaign, and gets a full release date, including a proper SP campaign.
Very few FPS titles are taking this “formula” these days, except for some Indie titles like Strafe, DUSK, Amid Evil and others. Looks like a tribute to old school fashion ‘first person shooter’.
It is fast paced, and packs a lot of punch, in my honest opinion. NOT everyone’s cup of tea though.
But I will surely try this Survival Mode now. Gameplay/design elements also seem similar to DOOM, Quake, and other old shooters as well.
I bought in on the early access a ways back(just to support the cause & I love FPS games) and the base is super solid and the devs are cool, care and listen. If they just make/add cool level designs for SP portion and create a similar nuDoom type SP it will = money and be epic.
They have massive potential with what they already have and the end results could be very good.
I agree and as well really hope the KS goes through so I can play the SP!
yeah, this looks promising. I miss playing old school games such as quake2, doom, duke 3d. they seem to need a lot of funding for this game atm, so i’m in for their support.
“This game ROCKS”
“Let me try this Survival Mode now. ”
So you didnt play it but it rocks?
Dude, your reply was just a taunt. I wrote that word after watching the gameplay videos, and other pre development stuff.
Obviously, I need to play the game to get a first hand experience.
Played Survival mode for about an hour. Movement and fluidity is superb, just like old DOOM. They need to introduce more enemy variety and make demons stand from one another better, maybe increase weapon texture detail and make weapons more thought out and they’l lhave a solid old school FPS.
As of now they’ve got a solid foundation to build on.
“Obviously, I need to PLAY the game to get a first hand experience,”
Which is why i said you cant say it rocks.
“, but that won’t change the fact that this game does NOT deserve our support”
So it “rocks” but you havent played it and you dont thing we should support it…..wut mate?
So when will you guys release the game? 😉
These guys look like honest and passionate dev…and know what they are doing!
I will support…
I just finished playing the free Survival Mode on Steam and wow, it was really good! These guys know what they are doing.
I dig their honesty and what they’ve shown so far. I just hope they manage to reach their goals, and for the SP campaign to not feel like a typical death match.
40k just to make the first level? Come on, you cant say you are like olschool fps but not having anything to show.
Yeah i dont care unless i see at least one playable level and its good.
Retro revival, kickstarter/early access, talk up your game by talking about other, better games – we’ve seen this dozens of times over the past few years. People aren’t still falling for it, I hope.
