A few hours ago, we informed you about some “leaked” games that were listed for pre-order by Walmart Canada. The one that caught us off guard was the sequel to id Software’s open-world game, RAGE. Fast forward a couple of hours and here we are with some really weird tweets from both the official RAGE account, as well as Pete Hines.
Let’s start with the official RAGE account. After years of hibernation, RAGE’s Twitter account was brought back to life. RAGE tweeted RAGE 2’s listing from Walmart, pointing out all the wrong details about it. Now this could be a prank, however it’s interesting to note that the official RAGE account did not dismiss the rumour of a new RAGE game.
Hey @WalmartCanada here are a few notes. pic.twitter.com/R1od2aTEMC

Next we have Bethesda’s Pete Hines, who claimed that due to Walmart’s leak gamers can’t have nice things. From the looks of it, and given the fact that Pete Hines has never commented on rumours, this could very well be a confirmation of RAGE 2. It also appears that Pete Hines was keeping this – RAGE 2 – as a big surprise for Bethesda’s E3 show that has been spoiled by Walmart. Again, this appears fishy so we’ll have to wait until Bethesda’s E3 show.
This is why we can't have nice things. https://t.co/ZhOHGsITfp

The official account for Bethesda also responded to the tweet from the official RAGE account with a simple “Dude”.
Dude.

All in all, it appears that Bethesda is either a) confirming the existence of RAGE 2 or b) capitalising on this listing for some extra exposure.

So pretty much confirmed.
Rage 2 on the new id tech 6 engine would be nice to see.
That would be amazing actually!
On max settings 1440p on my monster ryzen 1700 16 gb ddr4 3200mhzcl15
gtx 970 and 24” 2560×1440 60 hz ips monitor… It will look amazing! I
still remeber how crap Rage 1 looked on the athlon x2 gtx 560 ti and
19” 1280×1024 i had at release date of it… But now with so much more
powerful pc that i have i expect movie quality graphics!!!!
And a bit more fast paced…that would be incredible!
Not sure.
I liked DOOM 2016, but by campaign standards, that felt rather samey and mediocre. The combat and visuals were nice though.
Best FPS campaign I’ve played this gen. Non-stop fun.

If they make it like DOOM 2016 with non stop action yes it will be very good.
Would that happen to be the engine room is running on because that still has some texture draw in issues as their old engine did in Rage.
Mega textures loading five seconds after you’ve turned around and the screen still loads.
I hope for something killed from this, but the first game was near unplayable with the draw in issues it had.
As far as things go, id is still interested in Megatextures, as well as numerous devs having texture streaming within their games. Nearly any AAA game these days features textures that pop in one way or another.
Not like their implementation. Doom is still pretty bad at it. Still not sure why every time you initially change your weapons the textures load in.
And the levels are still loading in textures here and there even after being in the level for a minute.
No game today has that level of texture pop in. Maybe LOD pop in, but not textures with the likes of rage and or doom at that.
Time to remove the 120 GB of Doom from your SSDs, an even bigger megatexture game is on its way.
1 terabyte game.
Bring it! 😉
If it gets me closer to the holodeck for games then I am for it.
We need games to push the envelope, Instead of the usual BS milking they do.
I am old enough to remember Wing Commander, Everyone wanted to upgrade their pc just to play it back in the day, Kind of miss those days.
Now it’s the opposite, If we are lucky we get a complete game that doesn’t need micro transactions or one that isn’t some bad conslow port.
I have it on my new 4TB WD BLACK that i bought on novembe 2017 for 180e
uros. Until then i had it on the old 2011 1 TB(that i still kept so now i
have5TB of HDD in total). Didnt bought SSD because they are too
expensive for 2+ TB. Now i have a 2017 4 TB and a 2011 1 TB HDD !!

It’s 78.89GB on my PRO and 60.8GB on my X…… What gives with the major size difference between the two!?! Haven’t checked the size of my version on PC yet if anyone can confirm.
Eight to almost 20GB difference is pretty substantial between versions. Especially since the PRO version is the weakest of them all it’s the biggest one file size wise.
Too many beths are talking about this, this better not be a April fools joke, ill be super pissed if it is.
I think the “dude” is a reference to the Don Cheadle & Mark Ruffalo interview.
Yes it is and they also tend to do these comically condescending https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5af803da70f4e8b0ae82fb67a9ca920fe5efd226af4b72c6a08c8fd463f66b03.png one liners
I actually quite liked the original, until I realized the game was over. The ending really hit me out of nowhere. I didn’t even realize it was “climaxing”.
Why ….rage is a sh*t game
It had it’s faults but it was mechanically sound. You seem to not know the difference between ‘game’ and ‘story’.
“mechanically sound”
Wtf is that
“It had it’s faults”
Yeah like a lot . . . .
“You seem to not know the difference between ‘game’ and ‘story’.”
I know . And there is no game or story in rage . https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/56bf56fcadedcec80efc25c8f45b50b1667ea9e6dd5ab4cbb274178edeea1df8.png
Here is your game . If this is enough for a sequel then you have very low standard . . . . . . .. . .
Retardation confirmed. You compared a story to a game mechanic, moron. As a shooter it played pretty clean. That is objectively true. Not bad for their first stab at a new IP.
Why bother. I’m talking to some idiot that probably thinks the Witcher is an RPG.
Trigerred ?

Its ok .
Its ok to like s*it games
You are special
And non points. Cute. Easy block. Basic game design is a little over your head, I guess.

I came from the time-machine of “Back to the Future” and can corroborate the fact that we will be getting RAGE 2 this year. And RAGE 2 will be officially revealed with a teaser and a sliced gameplay shown at E3, similar to the style of Fallout 4’s revelation back in 2016.
I enjoyed the first game and I see it’s potential. Ditch the MP. Make the open world a living one. Add more depth to the playstyles/add different playstyles (shooting, tech, stealth maybe?). The shooting was clean, driving felt decent enough. Just needed a living world with more to do. And of course a plot this time around.
Needs to be a battle royale game or I’m not interested. Also needs cosmetic microtransactions.
