Square Enix has just updated the official Steam store page for Final Fantasy XV, informing everyone that the game will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. This comes as a surprise as the demo version of Final Fantasy XV did not use it. We don’t know whether this is a last-minute change or not, however, it’s official now that the game will be using it.
Contrary to Bandai Namco that did not list Denuvo on Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet’s Steam store page, Square Enix updated the store page of Final Fantasy XV almost five days prior to its official release. Not only that, but the publisher has updated its EULA in order to include Denuvo. Back in February, Denuvo was not listed in the game’s EULA.
As such, and since publishers are obviously deceiving their customers, we won’t be publishing any Denuvo news based on the Steam store pages of upcoming games. Lesson learned. And make no mistake, Square Enix did deceive its customers as it had not listed Denuvo when the game was available for pre-order.
Final Fantasy XV releases on March 6th and will support mods, despite the presence of Denuvo.

It will be broken in a week so why even bother
Let’s hope.
it’s already broken, check at crackwatch.
*scrambling…hey wait a minute 🙂
Yarrrrrrr
I guess you’ve forgotten about those games that took months to crack?
Handball!
4.8/9 denuvo… this game does not use 5.0 nor doers it have vm protect on top of it
And you know this how?
it was not announced in the eula… it needs to be there for legal purposes
The EULA has nothing to do with what version of Denuvo they use. It just needs to mention it’s using Denuvo. So I ask again how do you know what version it uses?
Oh that , that would be from SE themselves , they would have announce it as the first denuvo 5.0 game , and the media would report on it already.. it would be news already if they actually used 5.0
They would absolutely not announce anything to do with the technology that would be idiotic. Plus the denuvo versioning is completely made up by CPY and we don’t even know if it’s the first 5.0 game because CPY has stopped putting versions on them.
Actually it is not.. denuvo has internal numbering like _48_ / _50_ in the last version..
and yes they would have announced which version is being used , because version are already in the denuvo database
It is already.
I wanted to buy this game. Will only buy it when it is cracked.
Great job on f’ing such a nice streak.
What a shitshow.
“ruininggameorks”
I’ll give you credit you tried hard on that. I love when PC gamers complain about a feature that they can’t run. We might as well all play at 640×480 staring a black screen.
Crysis….I leave this here.
AO, AA, Volumentric fog/lighting, Global Illumination… all bs features that reduce performance. Let me know what I missed.
I wish they would remove lighting in games, it really hurts performance, I could get 144FPS all the time if it wasn’t for lighting.;-p
Lighting, Textures, and M/KB support need to go. Ruining the enjoyment of the games. I’m okay if sound is removed as well.
Yeah those ultra settings that kill FPS for little gain without Gameworks are BS but if you want 2D grass, 2D hair, cheap SSAO in 2018, you’re welcome to it. If your system can’t handle Gameworks that’s your problem, disable it and stop crying.
Sorry Nvidia is forcing you to play those games and turn on those settings.
I wasn’t talking about FC specifically, Gameworks games in general.
What I want to see is actual ULTRA settings. Not shadow/LOD pop in 50 feet ahead of me. Guess we are on opposites ends of wanting high end graphics.
Again, I’m not talking about FF specfically (which I see I called FC), but have you played the demo? Is it the final version?
Better lighting will kill your frames. 😛
What I am saying is I want all the options. I want ULTRA settings, lighting, textures, draw distances, gameworks, etc. Not just an option called Ultra. I want to be able to push my hardware passed the point of being playable.
Again Crysis…leaving here.
You mean at 4k or on a console? I don’t have any games running at 20fps @ 1080p.
Again it’s about having options. Sounds like you need to stick with a console. No settings to get you flustered.
What runs at 20fps or less on what hardware and settings?
Yeah like Kingdom Come Deliverance’s ultra high SVOTI setting that kills your FPS.
Then move along – no one cares what you think.
As long as you can disable such features you don’t have an argument.
Don’t forget this is still console port. At least at launch don’t expect much from it, maybe over time if PC sales are satisfactory they will polish exclusively PC version.
That’s just an excuse but the demo is running at 80-110 FPS highest setting without Gameworks at 1080p on my GTX 1070 so not sure what you’re crying about.
Pathetic attempt? Some of those gamework features in 15 are pretty nice.
“that adds bs”
by bs you mean a nice graphical feature that you don’t see in most games ? wtf is the problem when they give people those options. I assure you many people appreciate that. It’s retarded to complain about these things when they are options.
The reason they are entirely optional is because these features have a high performance cost in the first place. That’s why devs keep them optional, but what on earth is the problem with letting people with the hardware have those options ?
It’s like people complaining when they run a game on the maximum available settings and it doesn’t run at 60fps 4k on their latest graphics card. Yes, the developers have ultra options that give diminishing returns for high fps cost. So what ? Would people rather have them downgrade those options ?
Alot of these people are PC illiterate, even NVIDIA doesn’t recommend some Gameworks features for GTX 1070/1080s in GFE, never mind weaker hardware
The game is unoptimalized ( japanise + nvidia gameworks ) there are far better games whit better “features” and runs better
Tell me more about the final version of a game that isn’t out yet.
Well the game is out we know how its running we can test it . They are polishing the engine and game before the rest of the content is out . So far its unoptimalized . The game engine renders to far . Its not balanced nvidia gameworks setringns are usless unles you have a titan . Amd nvidia gameworks gona cripple AMD like every time. and its japanise. they dont have mutch experience whit pc games . They build console first and then Port it . They are getting better and better but ita still not good enough . And the game can run better . I hope moders will find a way to reduce some settings if they wont optimalize .
I hope you are happy whit my opinion .
I’ll just leave this here for you to re-read what you said
They are polishing the engine and game before the rest of the content is out.
Yes . polishing the engine and game before the rest of the content is out. . What you dont understand ? They give us the demo so the devs can se how it preform and insted of releasing a buggy port they gona release a patched / polished version. U know . Like devs shoud do. Not throw out the game like KCD . .
Yes you have a top system so the game runs fine ok then .
I have a 3570k and 2 gtx 970 . And i can play mgs 5 max settings on 4k . And this dosnt even have a official sli profile even tho there is Nvidia all over that game .
You told me nothing i dont know . The reason i bring up mgs5 is that its optimalized sli support and it runs rly good on what ever pc and its fun to play . I was expecting a better from FF XV and all the “build grom the ground up for pc” . If it would have SLI supprt it would be a lot better for everyone . And nvidia gameworks cripples AMD users . If a commom player will play this then he wont even se half of the graphics whats avaliable. . And gpu prices arent the best right now . Poor players like me coud get a second gpu for coins but no sli or crossfire . And they said no denuvo and then boom denuvo . It feels like they lied to us . I dont like what we got this game isnt a good port .
Ppl who have high end pc always speak up .
Oh it runs good .
Fine then .
Get a buget pc what 80% gamers have and try mgs 5 and then FF XV . You will have a different opinion on games and how they run .
I hope you get what i mean .
The game is not unoptimized. It runs perfectly fine on bad hardware.
Case in point… PS4.
A 1070 cant run it high on stable 60 fps . Yeah . You are right
Orcs has a C, not a K!
Then Go and enjoy this https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f40016075e3baa896a25cd26ade9468ab196814f6c923a3a119cc6a756aa78a3.png
Shut up, fanboy.
Game and HairWorks don’t, actually.
3 years ago when W3 was brand new, yes. If you use the mods that apply hairworks to EVERYTHING, yes.
Gameworks doesn’t reduce performance. Stop using bad hardware from 2009.
Final Fantasy XV is actually the best optimized game I’ve seen with Gameworld. It only increases performance cost on my 1080 by about 5-10FPS.
On some older titles, like Witcher 3, that cost goes up. Plenty of Gameworks games only run well on SLI setups. But on this a single GPU is more than enough. That’s actually impressive.
You mean NVidia Gimpworks?
I love the “I want Pixar graphics on an Afghanistanimation budget” comments. There are consoles for those people to play.
Hey I have nothing against NVidia, if people want viscous fluid physics with their boy band slideshows while using their GPU for central heating, more power to them.
I have nothing against Nvida, so let me bash them more.
If we are heating a house an AMD card would do a much better job.
Again why bother trying to advance graphics? Let’s go back to DOS gaming at low res.
No one is forcing you to turn on those effects. I know becuz you have PC you must turn on and must run perfect. Any graphic effect should have zero impact on frame rates…. Yeah ok.
Nice contridiction there.
“Hey I have nothing against NVidia”
Then say:
“instead of using pathetic attempt for nvidia to make people buy better graphics”
So you have got something against NVIDIA, Patheitc, just say you have instead being a coward. I don’t mind people hating NVIDIA, but at least make some good arguments.
You are mistaking me for a different user, I am making fried eggs and bacon on my NVidia card right now, I appreciate my NVidia card just fine.
You sound like an illiterate PC user and troll to me.
My food ended up getting burnt for paying attention to your comments and now you call me illiterate too, how rude. Don’t you know it takes concentration to cook on these cards? You look away for one second and your whole house could catch fire.
Since Maxwell was released Nvidia has had the most efficient GPUs and the lowest wattage use based on performance so that doesn’t make sense. Now if you were running a power hog like the RX 480/580 then I could understand.
Nvidia has had a few space heaters too in the past though like the GTX 480. Fire up a couple of those in SLI and the neighborhood would experience a brown-out until a backup generator could kick on at the power plant.
Of f’ing course
The game is also selling really well on pre orders alone, but not even this will deter these retarded executives from using this stain of a software, christ, someone nails a brain into these people already.
Some Chinese cracking group is saying that the demo exe works with the preload files for the full game, this could turn out to be hilarious.
Fingers crossed for comedy.

I figured this would happen, Squeenix is probably the company that jumped the hardest onto the Denuvo bandwagon and this is their biggest PC launch yet, there was no way they weren’t going to use it.
That’s why the most of us won’t buy this game.
most of the minority yes.
Square Enix is based out of Japan which makes them nips. We can’t blame the chinks for everything now, be reasonable.
Lots of games are willing to treat me with respect so I’ll just spend my money on one of them instead.
Now who was gullible enough to not see this coming?
And to think i was even thinking of buying this.
Where’s KKW?
Cleaning his fishing rod.
He’s all out of bait, but he rightly believes that he can just throw the rod into the water and the fish here will still bite.
Everyone bites him lmao.
Posting memes making fun of him only brings him more attention lul.
Let me give it a go…..
HAAAAAAAAA FILTHY PIRATES YOU SUCK SQUARE ENIX K0CK
YOU DUMB PIRATES WILL NEVER WIN
“And make no mistake, Square Enix did deceive its customers as it had not listed Denuvo when the game was available for pre-order”
Pirates aren’t customers lol………
Remember kids, don’t believe articles based off of feelings and speculation
“Final Fantasy XV releases on March 6th and will support mods, despite the presence of Denuvo.”
????
so then…modders will mod this out? that’ll be among the first thought… they adopt a huge padlock only to throw in a key to unlock it. why even bother……
It could also be just a PR note of discouragement left in the EULA. It still defeats the purpose of advertising moding functionality and lesser restrictions to mods.
Mods are fine as long as they don’t tamper with the exe as it’s protected by Denuvo.
well there goes many useful mods to fix performance issues…
good job square!. filthy pirates tears are delicious
This hurts paying consumers more than the pirates though. Theyre gonna be able to use their copy on a gaming laptop out and about with no internet connection needed at all where if my internet goes out or the lines are being worked on then im out of luck, thats not fair is it?
I love the pirate comments from the pirates. Kinda ironic, dontcha think?
Bait and Switch basically.
Told you it was gonna happen, from now on companies will do that to keep DENUVO discussion away from the game until the release day.
John, I hope you think about titles like this next time
“Final Fantasy XV will not be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech”
Now proven to be wrong. You might want change your wording to cover yourself from a bit of embarrassment.
he’s not embarrased lol. The more Denuvo articles he sh*ts out, the happier he is.
All that is left is Denuvo speculation and theories.
WTF!! this is cheap. so cheap. People pre-ordered this games knowing it will not have DENUVO. can they get Refund? I hope so
Pre-ordering is a bad idea from the likes of Square Enix anyway. If it does come with Denuvo it will probably get cracked quickly. Ubisoft had some success with Denuvo but they were also using VMProtect.
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/126a5fdebd442d98b7b9d135e1bd337620ff121580206f722ed0abfd6597f91c.jpg
Hah! I am glad I didn’t pre-order it. I knew Square would pull this one.
curb_your_enthusiasm.mp3
Well perfectly optimized, shouldn’t mean that you get to use max settings on a mid-range to high-end system. If it did people with enthusiast system specs will be complaining that the game is a mere console port. You can’t please everyone.
so much for that bold prediction, its never fully confirmed until its gets released, you guys coulda easily become fake news.
called it
and no buy from me! i was so close to buy it!
stupid square enix
If the demo doesn’t use Denuvo and the main game does. And if the main game somehow runs worse than the demo. you can actually make a case on Denuvo affecting performance.
Cry, babies, cry, lol.
What? They explicitly said it wouldn’t.
We were literally discussing this yesterday on a different article, a Chrono Trigger article, about how SoM remake didn’t have it and Chrono didn’t have it and FFXV didn’t have it and how maybe this means SE isn’t stupid.
*gasp* Who could have ever seen this coming? LOL
No one cares about Denuvo. Only pirates. Denuvo does not affect performance, it’s still never been proven that it does. and the only example that does exist was a glitch in the game itself – not the Denuvo – causing the issues.
This is why people need to watch from boarding that hype train before handing over cash.
Bet there wont be any performance loss.
that sucks, i was gonna buy this. now i gotta pirate it when its cracked to prove a point. dont they know this (((denuvo piracy protection))) costs them sales?
okay now we can compare the demo without denuvo and game with denuvo. Which one is have better performance, or is it just pirate that make fuss about denuvo
maybe this time square enix need support cause they try to treat pc guys with respect and special treatment and they made stand with amd for pc even its for thier interest but thier games are a pearl : nier tomb ffxv just cause deus ex etc the best variant so if you guys can buy just help them for future release and put in mind that ffxv its 12 year to make i think its like their baby like mgs 4 or red dead and quite honestly they deserve some respect so support and support this time xD
The game is out 1 year and 4 months after consoles and we should be deeply grateful for the stuff that must be mandatory free by this point?
….with OSD MSI AB, highest gfx option 1080p, this demo eat vram more than 4gb, eat more 16gb ram….. >.<
