And another one bites the dust. Perfect World Entertainment and Motiga have announced that Gigantic will be shut down on July 31st. Gigantic was free to play and pits teams of five heroes—each with a massive guardian monster—against each other in explosive battles across a variety of fantasy battlefields.
The game promised to combine intense combat with strategic map control, and the first team to defeat the enemy guardian seizes the battlefield and wins the game.
According to the companies, the current state of the game has restricted options for further progress and relevant content updates.
“Discontinuing Gigantic was not an easy decision. The game is a unique and exciting experience that captured many hearts and minds. Unfortunately, it did not resonate with as many players as we’d hoped. Over the last several months, the teams at Motiga and Perfect World looked into viable options to sustain Gigantic. However, the current state of the game has restricted options for further progress and relevant content updates, and delivering basic features while also fixing long-standing issues was more complicated than expected. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to find an impactful solution that would help Gigantic break through in a crowded market.”
Perfect World Entertainment and Motiga have disabled the purchasing of Rubies and Hero Packs, meaning that all Heroes will be free (until the game is shut down). Currency will still be rewarded in-game, and any Crowns or Rubies gained by an account will remain available to purchase Shop items at discounted prices.
And that is that!

And this is another reason I don’t like online games. I would hate to put so much time into a game that I wouldn’t be able to play eventually.
Barely lasted a year
So many studios are just hoping they can be the next LOL or Dota. It’s always a hail mary in that regard. They hope and pray they can do just enough to capture enough people to make a profit.
Why? I’ve never played it, honestly.
If all happened as you’ve described then I’m also happy to see the game’s demise.
Same. They abandoned the bigger share of gamers on 7, as well as dealing with MS, who bailed on them like they bailed on Scalebound/Platinum.
That would explain why I don’t recall this game at all.
Windows 10 Store AKA the graveyard for games!
Another moba bites za dusto.
Would have saved them trouble with them not working with MS in the future.
Can’t they just patch in some peer to peer or lan support or giveaway the server hosting package and let the game be. How many more games are people going to make just so they can throw it down the drain. Fckn worthless server requiring multiplayer games. There is a reason Unreal Tournament and CS1.6 still exist while countless other garbage is forgotten in time.

Microsoft can’t catch a break. How many games have they canceled or shut down since 2013?
Seems like the only mobas that will continue to exist are Dota, League and HotS. I know smite and HoN and probably a few more exist but they don’t get nearly as much attention.
Yeah, I have learned the hard way to only invest financially in online focused games that are already doing well. I know it sounds mercenary, but I lost money to both Infinity Crisis and Marvel Heroes.
Still a shame about Gigantic. I had been meaning to try it out.
good, it was a terrible game that milked what little fanbase it had.
