Dead by Daylight feature 2

Dead by Daylight has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide

Starbreeze has announced today that Dead by Daylight has sold more than 3 million copies across all platforms and formats. While Starbreeze did not reveal any specific platform data, it’s pretty obvious from Steamspy’s data that most of its sales are coming from the PC.

Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game. In it, one crazed killer hunts four friends through a terrifying nightmare. Players take on the role of both killer and survivors in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness. On the other hand, the Killer plays in first-person and is more focused on their prey.

The Survivors’ goal in each encounter is to escape the Killing Ground without getting caught by the Killer – something that sounds easier than it is, especially when the environment changes every time you play.

The game came out in 2016 on the PC. As such, it took Starbreeze over one year in order to hit its 3 million goal.

yet im sure instead of focusing on making the best pc games available they will keep sucking consoles off.

    1. Because they’re dumb enough to believe they’ll pull in the CoD crowd on consoles and get tons of sales. Same thing happened to Crytek no matter how many of their games on consoles bombed up till now.

  2. Not the best game in the world. But it was pretty well done and a good amount of fun for what they were asking for.

  3. This ain’t 2007 where you can just blame piracy for games doing bad on PC. Cuphead has sold more on PC than Xbox One despite it being marketed as an Xbox exclusive all the time. Enter The Gungeon and Firewatch are near 1 million copies sold. Dead By Daylight may not have been greatly spoken off but it definitely got more coverage which is crucial for an indie game’s success. I never heard of Dusk (can’t even find it or even know what type of game it is) and Serious Sam Bogus Detour and I own Serious Sam 3.

Piracy sure hasn’t stopped the Total War and Civilization games from breaking records in franchise sales or new IPs like Stellaris selling almost 1.5 million.

Online multiplayer is taking over not just on PC but consoles as well which is why so many large studios and publishers are trying to transition to “games as a service” because there is way more money in that than traditional singleplayer games.

Also Steam has a growing Chinese userbase that is use to playing mostly online games and are responsible for more than half of PUBG’s sales.
