Back in June 2016 we informed you about Halo Custom Edition SPV3; a total overhaul for the first Halo game on the PC. And we are happy to report that the team has been working on this total overhaul for a whole year and released a brand new version of it.
SPV3 comes with new weapons, enemies, vehicles, areas to explore and levels, as well as easter eggs and skulls which add new twists onto the gameplay.
This new version interpolates the framerate for the game’s physics, meaning that all animations feel smoother than before. In case you weren’t aware of, the original version of Halo CE was running with 60fps but had physics running at 30fps. While the mod does not fix the physics framerate, it does make them “appear” smoother.
The team has introduced a new installer that is 2.1Gb in size and contains the mod and Halo CE. All you have to do is download and run the installer (of course you will need a valid CD key for Halo Combat Evolved).
Those interested can download this total overhaul from here.
In order to celebrate this release, the team has shared a recreation video of Halo’s launch trailer in SPV3 that looks great and will give you an idea of what you can expect from this mod.
Enjoy!

You’ve actually reached the point of spam/advertising.
I’m aware that many PC gamers also have an interest in and own a console but there are many here that only game on PC and have no interest in spam about consoles. There are gaming sites that cater to both PC and console gamers and your comment would be appropriate there. I would assume that people come here to discuss PC gaming and if they own a console then they also go to a console only or mixed gaming site and read about consoles and console gaming.
But again, this is a site dedicated to PC gaming. You can click on the “About Us” top right and you will see this from the site owner as to what he wants this site to be used for:
“About Us
DSOGaming is a website dedicated to PC gamers. As PC gamers
ourselves, we started this website in order to cover everything
surrounding PC gaming, from game news, screenshots and videos/trailers
to mods, patches, as well as interesting gaming creations from talented
3D artists. We are also examining how games perform on the PC, and
whether they are optimized for this particular platform.”
You have a private profile but Googling your name I see that you also post on Playstation Lifestyle. I wonder what you would think about someone going over there and posting what the latest news on Video Cards coming out is?
Unless they intend to unveil a Master Chief Collection & Halo 6 for the PC…..

And even if they do, since it’ll be a Windows 10 UWP-exclusive….. see above.
Not to mention how I’m still annoyed they actually skipped over Halo 3’s Anniversary because….. I don’t know, [reasons], I guess? Effort? Laziness? A lack of interest in making free f*cking money?
still no ironsight on the weapons?
Ask yourself, what would iron sights add to the gameplay?
precision shooting
You don’t need iron sights for that. Come up with a better excuse for your gimmick.
I’m sure I’m the odd man out, but I still have the original installed, would be nice to have a mod only download, unless that isn’t possible..
looks amazing though, downloading it as I type this
“you will need a valid CD key for Halo Combat Evolved”
From where do we get that?
The only way I know is to buy the boxed PC game. Amazon USA has it for $20 new. On Ebay it’s as cheap as $7 used. If you can’t buy from those then try another online retailer.
Thanks.
JUst get any used cd key you can find online yes any used one works
Time to play my dusty halo CD…
so i have Halo CE already installed…is there a way to simply download the mod?
The mod itself makes up the majority of the install anyway – CE itself only adds about 200ish megabytes to the install size. A lot of the changes that have been made in SPv3 break compatibility with the base game. Think of it as being a bit like the Call of Chernobyl mod for STALKER.
Looks good but what’s going on with what looks like to be a noise/detail filter on the textures? Still, a good effort
So where do I buy Halo CE and download it?
Well to be honest this mod looks disappointing, wayy oversaturated colors and contrast (sweetfx?) And oversharpened textures. Halo remaster from master chief collection looks much better and I hope we will se PC in the near future
Yeah, the guy working on the trailer either has SweetFX or Reshade filters applied to the gameplay footage here. Ingame colours are pretty muted by comparison. Ditto with whatever is being used to sharpen the image as well – it’s a post-FX and doesn’t really jive with what the game looks like.
I played SPV3 way back but the levels where incomplete. Is this version complete now or what?
This version is complete, yes.
Jesus this looks amazing!
like MILES better than the MCC “remaster”
it’s a shame it’s such an old game, imagine if halo 3 got ported to PC and was open for modding… ahhhhhhh so much potential…
There are people slowly hacking away at both the Halo Online client (which is basically reskinned Halo 3) and Halo 5 Forge. Both have got rudimentary AI working, as well as modded weapons, vehicles and bipeds. Progress is of course slow, but ongoing.
Last version was very well done. I only wish we could get some of the fixes from mcc of halo 1 on pc like the 30fps animation lock and netcode forget the remastered graphics.
