League of Legends has hundreds if not thousands of skins created for the game, some have easter eggs and are specifically designed to not necessarily represent characters from other games but there is no doubt similarities, which makes purchasing the skins that much more better.
In this case though Edgar Davids a former professional footballer has taken Riot to the Netherlands court over the Striker Lucian skin which strangely does resemble Davids quite clearly. It is not known if Riot specifically designed this skin copying the look of Davids but it is known that before the Law suit was taken to the Netherlands court that Davids actually thanked Riot for the skin.
Here is Davids tweet on Jun 6th 2014:

The Netherlands court has ruled in favor of Davids and is now forcing Riot to show authoritories how much profit and money was generated from the Striker Lucian skin so a compensation amount percentage can be forwarded to Davids.
This entire charade has angered some League fans as they argue that Davids knew about the skin since 2014 and even thanked Riot for it only to sue them years down the track for a percentage of the profits made between the release of it and now. Riots argument to the court of Netherlands was that players of League would recognise Striker Lucian as Lucian first and not Davids but this was not enough for the court and ruled in favour of Davids.

Hello! My name Jak Connor I’m based in Australia and I picked up PCgaming as child when I was around ten years old. I mostly played RTS games back then, putting many hours into Age of Empires 1/2 and Age of Mythology. My love for PC gaming grew and stayed with me as I now have a passion for gaming and the amazing technology jumps developers show us all the time. I pledge that I will be bringing you fine people of DSOgaming the most unique and interesting news I can find!
I dont think anyone here is interested in kotaku/polygon buzz/tabloid chit chat. Stupid people discuss other people, smart people discuss events and history. The brightest minds discuss ideas.
I wish the new guy well but we can do without the blatant clickbait headlines of his articles titled ‘Dead Vega 64 GPU Found In AMD Radeon RX Vega Box’, ‘Red Dead Redemption 2 may not come to the PC’ and now this, as you say, “kotaku/polygon buzz/tabloid” nonsense.
If such articles become the norm here, which I sincerely hope they don’t, then DSOG will lose its special appeal and will sadly become another sensationalist trashy site not worth visiting.
Agreed. Kotaku should never be a referred source for anything.
Jak should interact with us in the comments section so at least we know that he’s reading the comments and possibly accepting a little constructive criticism. John reads the comments and responds to us at times.
hear hear
Jak needs to realize DSO isn’t another PCgaming
we don’t care about garbage or stupid people (or political bull$hit)
we care about PC games, and quality PC games
all f2p trash news is unworthy and pointless to post about
i hope he reads this
nice copy paste
I did not copy paste anything in that post, i usually do but not in that post.
you can’t understand a simple sarcasm, i’m sure i read that somewhere
And Eleanor Roosevelt says hi, by the way.
Such are the captialization rules in English (concerning titles and headlines). But yeah, they’re stupid.
he didn’t thank riot —at least in that tweet — he thanked the mention.
So someone gives a f ???? lol
Aww cmon at this point Gabe Newell shouls sue disney for Jaba de Hut resemblance lolz
Well that dude is a piece of sh$t , greedy as f
You missed ‘Does it have Denuvo?’ from your fine list!
He covered that with “What problems does it have”, plus ” Runs”, Perfomance”, also impacted by such intrusive DRM.
You can find that out on steam really.

I get what you are saying all of you, but this is not a CEO saying he doesn’t like another CEO, I think this is very PCgaming related as the company is one of the most popular developers on the planet. I can assure you all that I will not be posting tit for tat news between companies/developers but I will be posting what I find interesting around PCgaming. Do not think I don’t value all of your criticism as I’m quite new to this and am very aware of my sources of people that can give me the advice to improve and there is no better place than the comment section. But, don’t rule me out yet as I aim to hit outside the box with news as well as kill the inside of the box, impressing you all with news that I know you like as well as new stuff that you might like. So that being said, maybe have some more faith if you guys can muster it as I believe that I will impress you all with unique articles in the future!
Thank you all for your criticism as I have definitely taken it on board, I hope to sway all your opinions with the coming articles
– Cheers
great to hear from you Jak, and it’s good to see we’re on the same page
and we welcome you into the DSO community
hey a quick suggestion if you may:
can you do articles with PCgamer “reinstalled” format
where you go back to review old classic games and see how they play today
i have a few select choices of games who stood the test of time and are in
a need for a spotlight, i’ll give three games to choose from:
-Might and magic 7 for blood and honor
-Bully scholarship edition (a rockstar cult classic! even better than RDR imo)
-dark messiah of might and magic (made by the same guys who made dishonored)
it would be nice to have a little distraction from all the crappy industry practices and go back to the times when PCgaming was king…
Thank you for your welcome!
This sounds like an absolutely fantastic idea and I would love to do that for you but sadly I’m not yet quite confident enough to review games and I would much prefer getting comfortable with my news for the site each day before I start to review games!
The short of it: I need to find that quality before I start pumping out that quantity
Footnote: there’s really no need to link source articles when it’s just general news like “X game has launched” or “Y company has announced their latest big joke of a game”, or something equally generic 😛
I mean, yeah, you got the news from somewhere, but at the same time, so did they, it’s not like they’re running an exclusive on it.
Unless it really is an exclusive of course, in which case, sure, source away.
“We dont care if this bannana looks like a di*k.”
I do! 🙁 That sh*t’s hilarious!
But yeah, no, not on here ^^
What’s the point? Why sue? Okay that’s a dumb question, it’s clearly for money. But isn’t he supposed to be a rich sportsman? Damn ,everyone just wants to sue these days.
He’s famous. His image is marketable and he can make money off of that. Sounds to me like Davids didn’t care about it at first but then someone, probably his business manager, told him he has to care about this or others may try to use his image for free. And then League of Legends generates a tremendous amount of revenue. Over a billion dollars in microtransactions year after year.
