The team behind the best emulator for Playstation 3, RPCS3, has released a new version and we are happy to report that the first Ni no Kuni game is now almost fully playable on it. What’s also interesting is that some flickering issues that were present with the Vulkan API have been addressed, and there have been some noticeable performance improvements.
As we can see, there aren’t any graphical glitches or flickers, and performance is more than fine for this particular title. The outlines on the characters seem to be missing but other than that, every detail is being displayed (or we can’t spot any other missing effect).
This version of RPCS3 is most likely already available to all patreon members. The team did not reveal when it will become available to the public, though we can assume that it will be done sometime next week.
For comparison purposes here is how Ni no Kuni was running in the previous version of RPCS3.

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. Nice progress. but the game will eventually come to PC. I’ll wait for a proper port.
What makes you think it will eventually come to PC?
Can’t wait for Ninja Gaiden Sigma starts to run beautiful on rpcs3. *o*
Dumb comment.
It’s one game out of thousands. Come back and post that comment when the emulator can play all games perfectly then yes that’s the time to dump the ps3
That YOU’RE interested in? Then you should have made that clear in your original comment.
Outlines in the game might have been made from duplicated meshes with inverted normals, so the emulation may be a bit more taxing ultimately.
I never got a PS3 and never plan to as there is only a few games on the system that looks worth it.
Yeah, they need to add Resolution change to be able to play with above the PS3 settings otherwise all the issues not worth it.
I have no cracked PS3, and bough all the Exclusive PS3 ONLY games digitally with few disks like Killzone trilogy the ones not available on PSN, during sales games go as low as few dollars.
They will probably, they just need more time, this is kinda early in their work, and they have much less support at least money wise than Cemu (Wii U emulator), you can go and donate money to their patreon if you like to speed things up or help with it’s development directly if you can
The fate of every console game.
Why not port it to PC now, developers ? That way you will collect some cash 🙂
I am looking at you, Nintendo, with your Bayonetta 2 I am currently running almost prefectly on Cemu 1.9.0.
How about porting it to the PS4?
That’s ni no kuni 2 you dip
