Steam is currently featuring a game called Fidget Spinner Simulation which has sparked controversy to whether the developer of the game designed the game poorly on purpose for profit.

The game is listed on Steam currently for $1 while the DLC is listed at $30. This has caused massive controversy on the Steam page for the game as gamers believe the game was created specifically for profit and not for the love of creating a game people might enjoy.
Surprisingly the game itself is seen on Steam (at the current time of writing this) at “Mostly Positive” with 245 reviews. Even though it may be classified as ‘Mostly Positive’ scrolling down to the review section you can see peoples extreme discomfort with it, alleging that developers such as this one do not care for the game itself but instead just choose to create it for the profit and not the passion.
While the developer was announcing the ridiculous cost of the DLC they commented on a post of criticism saying:
“Why? It’s easy not to buy the DLC right? Nobody is forcing anybody.”
A emoticon of President Donald Trump’s face was also attached to the comment.
‘BigfryTV’ stated on a Steam review: “This is the Reason that Steam Needs Curation. Lazy Developer, who buys Downvote bots to hit channels who cover his garbage games. This is absolutely unreal that Steam allows this.”
Gamers have a very valid point here saying that some games are currently being made very sloppily on purpose just for profits. How do you think Steam should tackle a problem like this?

Hello! My name Jak Connor I’m based in Australia and I picked up PCgaming as child when I was around ten years old. I mostly played RTS games back then, putting many hours into Age of Empires 1/2 and Age of Mythology. My love for PC gaming grew and stayed with me as I now have a passion for gaming and the amazing technology jumps developers show us all the time. I pledge that I will be bringing you fine people of DSOgaming the most unique and interesting news I can find!
“choose to create it for the profit and not the passion.”
Like 99% of AAA games
THANK YOU.
What kind of hippie-dippie donk believes all devs make games out of “passion”. The ones that do are the ones that quickly go out of business.
I’m an artist by trade but you can’t ignore basic economics. There has to be SOME kind of income to incentivize continued work. Human beings need resources to live and to afford resources we have to provide something to the market that’s considered valuable. Artists can’t create art in a vacuum.

Polygon/Eurogamer/PC Gamer article now all but guaranteed!
“How do you think Steam should tackle a problem like this?”,
I’d start by asking them if they’re shocked that the likes of Zenimax, Warner Bros., Square Enix, Ubisoft, Capcom and Activison didn’t think of this scummy business practice first!
Newsflash: every single game is created to make a profit, unless it is completely free. Some people fail to understand that they are the ones in control of how much garbage is produced and added to Steam. If no one buys utter crap like this, developers aren’t gonna waste time developing it.
You mean “completely free” as opposed to “free to play”, right 😉
At this point basically only mods are completely free and you can see Valve and Zenimax-Bethesda trying their best to fix that as well.
I love this. I hope the guy gets rich. Not every game has to be Witcher 3. If people WANT to pay money for this, that’s on them. Nothing wrong with it.
People wanting Steam to step in are Nanny State advocates. Let people spend their damn money how they please.
It’s just bulls**t. And have you noticed the DLC? -.-”
“has sparked controversy to whether the developer of the game designed the game poorly on purpose for profit.”
Where is this controversy when EVERY OTHER GAME launches these days?
I’m a free market guy. I don’t need some nanny state actors telling me what I can/should buy. I can decide what to do with my money. Others can do the same. Choice is a strength, not a weakness.
Piss off.
We definitely need some kind of “Nanny State” to watch over the major corporations, though, as they repeatedly prove every time they try to f*ck us over. Other than that, yeah, the independent minors should definitely be left alone.
They can only do that if we let them.
We can’t blame companies for taking advantage of how stupid consumers are in order to make money. That’s their only goal.
If we stop buying “AAA” Games that clearly aren’t and vote with our wallets, we can make an impact on *any* corporation.
Nanny States are the wrong solution to the right problem.
Sure, but on the other hand, you ever hear the story of how Coca-Cola used to try & brainwash-advertise the masses by slipping in single frames of coke-related adverts into movie negatives in cinemas across the US?
Some things get called out, others get discovered, specifically due to the Nanny State Watchdog Agencies.
I mean, the mega-corps are always investing millions into brainwashing us, why can’t we invest something into counter-brainwashing them?
Sure, excessive nannying is pointless & turns us all into a bunch of whiney little b*tch Socialists with our hands held out waiting for free money, gratification & whatnot, but at least a degree of it is necessary in these (I hate this cliche) David v. Goliath situations, I’d argue.
After all, as Rocksh*t & ZeniMax have repeatedly proved, they’re not afraid of deploying their Legions of Lawyers against the little guy, even if it means showing up to your house & harassing you with PI’s or calling your workplace.
Besides, it’s not about “us”, it’s about the 12 year old kiddies with the parents who don’t give a f*ck about the PEGI rating on the box cover & that won’t change any time soon, because nobody’s interested in changing it. Hell, over a decade ago a bunch of whiners managed to get the PG-13 movie rating gutted, what was the result? Movies can’t swear anymore & Hollywood’s allergy to making high-budget R movies culminated. What a great f*cking outcome.
This ,,Software” doesn’t deserve to have any type of publicity. This is just trash.
The DLC looks like it’s one of those “did you like the game? Feel like supporting us some more? Well then, here, click this & buy!” packages that indie games have sometimes.
Of course, that’s not to say it isn’t ridiculously overpriced, but I’ve seen a few of these before (even bought a couple, when the game was that good). The way they handled the backslash is obviously beyond moronic, but beyond that; they’re not a major studio backed by a major publisher, they’re a small independent studio selling a game for $1, so, yeah, realistically, in my opinion they should have certain leeway in terms of additional profits.
I mean, just look at what the DLC is called; “Fidget Spinner – Premium Member”
Now, the description;
“ABOUT THIS CONTENT
Unlocks “Premium Member” Achievement.
Gives “Premium Gold Plated” Fidget Spinner & Gold plated “VAPE”.”
I mean, sure, if Warner Bros. was trying to pull something like this with Shadow of War, or Activision with Call of Duty or whomever with whatever & whatnot, I’d be saying absolutely “F*CK THIS SH*T”, because it’s obvious they’re just doing it to line their own pockets & inflate their quarterly earnings reports, rather the developer’s (especially considering how much we KNOW they’re withholding from them – on purpose. Remember that old scandal about Obsidian not getting a bonus for New Vegas because of Metacritic? Yeah, now that’s a con job if I’ve ever seen one, legal or otherwise), or because they want to invest the money into some new mega-project they’re working on, or whatnot.
So, yeah, at the end of the day for me it’s down to the difference between two blokes in a garage doing something & a mega-corp that just exists to collect money, be cheap & rip people off in a thousand different ways, all while still b*tching & moaning about how they’re “not doing enough with microtransactions.”
cancer sells apparently…
