CI Games has issued a statement detailing its future plans, in which the company admitted that it was a mistake to chase the big publishers. CI Games was specifically talking about Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3; a game that was too ambitious versus what it could have been able to deliver in any reasonable amount of time.
As Chief Executive Officer Marek Tyminski said:
“We’ve learned a lot as a team over the course of development for Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, much of which I believe has shaped the talented individuals within CI Games and the entire studio for the better. When we began development of SGW3, we decided on such a relatively large scale of the game with its open world that now we realize it was just too ambitious versus what we could have been able to deliver in any reasonable amount of time. We simply made the wrong math considering the size of our team and the originally given timeframe. By positioning the game in a AAA category, it took us away from what we could have done great. Instead we spent too much effort trying to catch up with other AAA titles in terms of their production values and features. That was a big mistake.”
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 was delayed multiple times and it did not meet a commercial success. Not only that, but the game suffers from optimization issues that have not been resolved as of yet (and perhaps may never be addressed).
Tyminski concluded:
“All of that was a huge lesson for us and we’re now moving forward without any tag attached to our next project. We’re planning to make a great tactical shooter where we can focus on exciting gameplay, some key mechanics, and missions that have depth without all of the trappings of a large open-world setting. We want to make this game even more tactical than SGW3, and I believe the last three years have created a wonderful foundation that we can build upon for our next game.”

Yup pretty much, just make a non open world AA tactical shooter. Why cant you do that instead of copying ubisoft?
The only thing this game was missing was a wing suit and a sassy black assistant who snapped her fingers and said “Mmm-hmm!” a lot.
They’re not a great studio in the here and now, but I don’t doubt that they could improve over the next several years. Smaller scale games is a good start at least.
They should do a lateral movement away from shooters and try something different. The shooter market is just overstuffed.
If the game would’ve been small sandbox then it would’ve been a great game. Open world idea was completely pointless. gameplay was great though.
“Shaped for the better…”
“..last three years have created a wonderful foundation…”
Wow… Such optimism for such failure
I was told games use Denuvo because piracy is the only and the only reason games fail to sell.
I have not played much of SG3 ,only 3 hours,so far everything except the open world is above average, the open world does not feel alive.Gun customization and some mocap cut scene done really great. What they were trying to achive were already done better in Farcry 3.They have great concept just gotta make the implementation right.
“What they were trying to achive were already done better in Farcry 3. Not really sniping and enemy camps were a joke in far cry 3.
i meant the open world not the sniping, camps would have been great if the AI were bit smarter.
I’m glad the game is failing. That’s what you should get for trying to copycat trite AAA titles which make gamers sick.

Such a boring game. Really..
The sniper part is good and that’s it, the game has the cheesiest story I’ve ever seen.
I don’t believe them. I don’t believe this statement. It’s just an excuse for not apologizing to buyers for their false advertisements regarding SGW3.
Before releasing SGW3, did they know that they are going to release a shi**y game? ABSOLUTELY YES!
I think this statement is just pathetic. It means: “excuse us to not deliver as promised, but anyway, please buy our next game.”
Just sell the game for under $10 now and all is forgiven! 😉
Cra..p series. End of story.
