CD Projekt RED has released yet another set of screenshots for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a highly anticipated title and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. The game releases on May 19th and will be using some exclusive PC graphical features. Enjoy!

The bushes in the second screen look really bad, no proper shadowing or AO are applied to them. But the other screens look good.
I may be wrong, but IIRC CDProjekt Red are using subsurface scattering for their foliage, so what we might well be seeing is some kind of approximation of light shining through the leaves. I agree that it doesn’t look quite right, but most of the other foliage seems to self-shadow pretty convincingly.
There is very likely LOD applied. Honestly to use advanced shadowing for so many objects in such a distance would be pretty demanding. Considering all other effects, draw calls count would be enormous. DX12 could help there but still very powerful graphic would be needed.
I suspect we’ll get the entire game in frames before the game is released.
So pretty, it makes me want to upgrade my hardware.
Looks like a last-gen game. Compare that second shot to Far Cry 4, barely a difference. Higher LOD and draw distance on trees, that’s about it.
Looks marvelous!
