Piranha Bytes showcased the latest build of its upcoming action RPG, ELEX, at the PC Gamer Weekender Studio, and below you can find a video showing 20 minutes of new gameplay footage. ELEX is set against the backdrop of a brand new post-apocalyptic science fantasy universe that immerses players in a vast, seamless game world full of interesting characters, mutated creatures, deep moral choices and of course, some thrilling action. Animations are very off but the rest looks cool 🙂
The more I see, the more I’m underwhelmed by it, but I guess anyone who’s die hard and wants to defend the game will see my opinion as a direct attack.
Gothic 1 and 2 are in my top 5 favorite games, but that Piranha Bytes doesn’t exist anymore, I don’t think they have any die hard fans these days, lol.
There are a very small number, but yeah, the days of the original PB are gone which is a shame.
Well, i think the last good game they made was risen, but i never finished it, it got borring later on. This game has a interesting settng and unlike your typical open world “checklist” ubisoft game…which spread to other companies as well, this game will definetly have a interesting world to explore…hopeflly, risen 2 world was meh and i did not even bother with 3.
I mean, it cant be worse than your average ubisoft game or fallout 4?
Its the opposite for me and I never played any PB games, generic fantasy is not my thing. But we have no postapocalyptic games, also science fiction RPGs are a rarity of its own.

Are these really the same devs who made Gothic games? This looks juvenile in concept and execution, the guy explaining it sounds like he is showing off a kids toy.
Why does the setting look and sound so bad? What happened to the guys who thought up the setting for Gothic trilogy, in each one the setting was interesting, intriguing.
Let me be frank, this looks terrible. There I said it.

Opinion i thought the gothic setting went to the trash with 2, and then they added pirates just as a skin, it played the same as the old games.

Gothic 3 is as generic as it gets.
In Gothic 3 the Orcs weren’t evil. Besides warcraft I don’t see many Orcs not being evil all day. Infact I think Orcs in Gothic 3 were implied to be smarter than the humans, the power dynamics were interesting.
The guys speaks in foreign language thats why
these guys need to modernize themselves. euro jank is only acceptable to a certain point. its 2017, you cant have these animations still. looks terrible.

Games like Dragon’s Dogma and Dark Souls kinda spoiled me in this genre. I like Gothic 2, but the combat in that games is boring and frustrating.
The guns are worthless, look at the trol he switches to meele weapon and he destroyed it.
The guns have levels and mods, also enemies have defense, its an RPG some monster die faster from ranged others from melee, also both guns and swords can get abilities like plasma, fire, snow etc.
Some monster can be only vulnerable to some specific element
