Resident Evil 2 Remake new feature

This is what Resident Evil 2 Remake could have looked like with fixed camera angles

YouTube’s ‘Enveloping Sounds’ has shared two videos, showing what Resident Evil 2 Remake could have looked like with fixed camera angles. As we all know, the original Resident Evil trilogy featured fixed camera viewpoints and these videos replicate the feeling of playing the remake in its original aesthetic style.

This is a pretty cool concept and we’d really love to see a mod that would allow players to play the entire game with fixed camera angles as it appears to be working just fine. This is the kind of mods that need to be released (instead of the inevitable nude mod that will most likely come out at a later date).

The free camera cheat table was created by jim2point0 so kudos to him.

Right now there is no word on whether this concept will turn into a fully functional mod but here is hoping that jim2point0 – or someone else – will go the extra mile and release a “Fixed Camera” mod.

Enjoy the videos and stay tuned for more!

        1. I think you mean God of War. I like them both, the old style God of War games and the new God of War. But I think the combat was more fun in older God of War games while exploration is more fun in the new God of War.

          1. I’d say exploration is more fun in the new God of War, but it’s absolute sh*t compared to any other game in the genre. Hell even Ubisoft titles are more fun to explore.

        2. That’s not why you didn’t like the new God Of War. You didn’t like it because it was not A God Of War Game. It’s a terrible God Of War Game because it’s NOT GOD OF WAR. Sure it would be a good game if it was called something else. I played 25% of it and I just stopped, it’s a Horrible game. Basically suffers from the same symptoms that Mass Effect Andromeda Suffered. Both of them would be a fantastic gameis if they were called something else. But because they were called Mass Effect Andromeda & God Of War, that makes them terrible.

The worse part of the God of War foolishness is the creator Corey Fuqface, smiling as if he created an innovative masterpiece. He created Dark Souls Clone. Good news though, it is better than Dark Souls. The 25% I played anyways.

          1. I felt this way originally but I’d have to say no. God of War 7 was a God of War game. It simply evolved. Instead of a brainless, stupid button mashing game where you just spun in circles spamming everything, it actually required thought. I liked the first 6 but let’s not pretend they were amazing.

It’s not a Dark Souls clone either you worthless teenager. Dark Souls did not invent the Castleroid genre. At all. It’s far more of a Darksiders “clone” than Dark Souls which is for a fact not a castleroid when you look at it anyway.

          2. Older god of war games were much better than the SJW crap “Dad” of War turned out to be. Deal with it, kid.

          3. They really weren’t but apparently I’m a kid for liking a game whose story wasn’t written by handing the developers primary school aged children some crayons and Herodotus on their weekend away from first grade.

          4. Some of these dumb kids are literally agreeing with this Chalice fool out of pure confirmation bias. He ADMITS that he literally didn’t even play the game. He has no clue what the game is or is not like and his opinion is moot. You don’t even get the blades of chaos until almost 70% of the way through the game.

It IS a God of War game. It has puzzles, it has the combat mechanics, it has big stuff to kill, it has lazily Elmer’s glued together mythology, and it has Chris mfing Judge who is far better than Terrance.

Just because it’s open world and doesn’t make you constantly kill a million of the same worthless enemies so you can farm orbs to upgrade doesn’t make it not a god of war game.

Games evolve. Pathetic little manchildren with no taste don’t.

    1. I don’t like “over the shoulders” that much though. all 3rd person games feel like one another now. back in the day there was big design differences from each game.
now everything is RE4 and Gears style.

    2. If fixed camera angles needed to stay in the past, nobody would touch old games with fixed camera angles in the present.

Let me check here……, huh, plenty of people still playing games with fixed camera angles in present day. Who knew? Fixed camera angled do “not” need to stay in the past.

You should really learn the difference between “genuinely antiquated” and “design choice”, bud. Better yet, maybe look outside your hilarious narrow opinion of things. That should do the trick.

P.S. Bring back the down vote button ffs. Pretty tired of this era of snowflakes we’ve had to endure for the past few years.

      1. fixed camera angels were a necessary compromise turned into a artistic choice due to the limited hardware power they had, from a technological standpoint it makes no sense for them to make such games ever again, its simply a bygone era thing.

        1. Well we should than the limited hardware power which because of that games were great back then! Had a “soul” no its copy paste action movie nonsense. Gaming is finished. Fewer memorable game release every year. If I want to watch a movie I can go to the cinemas or because cinemas are about to eclipse as well I can watch it in my TV. A game is not a movie.

        2. the old 2d backgrounds were artistic but blurry and to me what matters more is good controls not tank controls and you have some crappy aiming system that doesnt work properly and you can easy miss.

      2. If plenty of people still liked to play fixed camera games they would still be making them and not go extinct. Good riddance.

      3. The problem with those games isnt the camera but the tank controls and that there is usually no indication if you are aiming at the enemy while every bullet counts.

If people still like this camera setting, then there are bazillion of resident evil clones in psx to play, but they dont play them.

        1. That’s why you A) Learn to play and B) Use auto aim if you’re that worthless.

It was entirely easy to know if you would hit them. It wasn’t rocket science.

  1. nothing, probably figured it wasn’t worth it and focus on other aspects, was probably more necessity due to the limitations of the hardware at the time. the “tank” controls are notoriously bad because of the backgrounds changings and shifting perspective.

  2. Don’t expect anytime soon this kind of mod, here what Enveloping Sounds said:

“Unfortunately, in order to get this to be an actual realized mod you’d literally need to recode the game for many reasons. The camera isn’t gonna just have to be fixed, but also follow the character in certain environments like in CVX, which isn’t easy to just “mod in”. A few other issues would be Ada’s hacking section. It’s not impossible, but you’d at least need a team of experienced devs.”

  3. The one with Claire is pretty damn good in terms of cinematography, some really good angle shots almost professional.

  4. Wow, I would actually buy a New Resident Evil if they did something like this. Why not give options for fixed camera angles and open camera? Laziness? Lack of demand? It gives a greater scare factor when you lose certain freedoms, like free look. Not being able to see what is coming up is more than half of the fun, imo.

    1. Same here, at least I hoped for Alternative mode, make it 10$ DLC since they have to go tough the complete game and adjust all the camera angles properly, lots of work.

  5. What’s stopping them?

The fact that they’re completely out of touch with their audience.

The people who asked for this remake for 18 years aren’t the people who played RE4. We were asking for this remake literally the second REmake 1 came out – years before RE4. What Capcom did was they invented those people who were making RE4 style remake in Unreal Engine to consult on the project and only listened to them and RE4 fans, not true Resident Evil fans.

So they compromised and put in the original soundtrack and costumes, but not any option for fixed camera.

While this remake is ok, it’s not what we wanted. We wanted a REmake 1 style remake.

    1. the brazilian dude who made a remake apart from being far more accurate than this version…. also has fixed camera and fps view as optional.

    2. someone was called a snowflake for wanting fixed camera angles to stay in the past where they belong, yet here we have a textbook snowflake feeling entitled. “nO, wE wAnTeD fIxEd cAmErA aNgLeS aNd TaNk CoNtRoLs, wE’rE tHe “rEaL” RE fAnS“. I was 9 yrs old when I first played RE2 in ’98 and the style of it was perfect for it’s time but we can’t stay stuck in the past because “real” fans can’t imagine moving forward.

  6. The gas station would have been much harder with fixed angles for sure.

It doesn’t matter anymore. It’s long past time for us true RE fans to figure out that we aren’t wanted or appreciated anymore, and just get over it.

This remake isn’t what we asked for anyway, and it’s not good either. I’m not saying it’s bad – I like it more or less – but it lacks any soul or personality. They got rid of all the “stupid” dialog, they cut out literally the entire beginning of the game and replaced it with these brief 2 cutscenes, even changed those entirely. What’s silly is that the game is now less realistic than the original, like how the parking garage ascends to this floating road 50 feet in the air next to Kendos. Like how you can hit a zombie with a semi going more than fast enough to flatten a living human yet a T-virus zombie can survive it and look fine then stand up and bite you..

I can’t wait to see how bad RE3 remake turns out now that they totally jumped the shark with the Tyrant spam in this game. It’s going to get panned hard when Nemesis does the exact same thing. And Nemesis has guns.
