Death Stranding Fan Remake in Unreal Engine 5 looks amazing

YouTube’s ‘Ye Shih’ has shared a new video, showcasing what a Death Stranding Remake could look like in Unreal Engine 5. This fan remake looks absolutely amazing, so be sure to check it out.

Now as we all know, Death Stranding uses the Decima Engine. It’s a game that came out in 2019 and still looks amazing. So, the purpose of this fan remake wasn’t to significantly improve its graphics. The YouTuber was mostly aiming to come close to the art style of the original game, and they succeeded.

What’s also cool here is that this video does not simply features environments inspired by Death Stranding. Oh no no no. This video also has the BTs, a BB, the whales and the black floating liquid. Hell, it even has a big giant BT.

To put it simply, this is an amazing concept video. It also packs a better lighting system than the original game. My guess is that this is mainly due to Unreal Engine 5’s Lumen. So yeah, make sure to at least watch the video.

Enjoy!

  1. lol, wut? Isn’t it just a fan’s attempt at “trying” to replicate Death Stranding’s looks using UE5
Not a Remake now, is it? That too of Death Stranding?
Which even though being a controversial game … is a really good lookin’ game.
Decima engine is no slouch …

  2. “To put it simply, this is an amazing concept video”

Exactly, so don’t write “fan remake” in the headline.

  3. Death Stranding isn’t a game.

It’s Kojima’s attempt to make a game that exposed him as a fraud.

  4. when gaming news is pretty slow it is nice to see all of the fan creations.
from Unreal and Unity as well. the tools of course from both sources can be used to create all kinds of content, not just from existing IPs. it would seem though that many creators have taken to demonstrate the tool’s flexibility in emulating many popular game engines. which of course Unreal and Unity can do without breaking a sweat. the tools have been making really impressive progress over the past few years.

  6. Meh.

The cutscenes in Death Stranding looked great using the Decima engine. UE5 doesn’t blow me away.

    1. Tell you parents I said to change the password on the family ipad. You’ve been on a little too long.

    2. I got it free from the Epic site and am loving it. 36hrs in just doing side quests and rebuilding the highways not paying any attention to the plot.

      Great atmosphere and open world.

Although I can understand why people don’t like it.

      1. How can you not pay attention to the plot when 15-minute cutscenes are shoved into your throat every hour?

        1. The plot’s drivel no matter how many cutscenes there are, so I quickly forget what they were going on about.

    3. i’m sure you just review bashing without even trying to play the game
      death stranding was great

  8. Reminder that John forgot to write that EGS offered this game for free, but not these stupid UE5 demos.

  9. So why isnt Kojima remaking it in Unreal 5 yet ? seems easy..
Now if they also can get rid of the stutter when panning around the camera this would be great.
