Ah, AI. A word that a lot avoid like the plague. A word that can make a lot of players boycot the games that use such tools, just like they do with games that use Denuvo. And you know what? To a point, I can understand it. YouTube has been bombarded with fake AI videos. But, once in a while, you encounter an AI video that looks truly incredible.
So, here’s today an AI remake concept video for The Witcher 3. Created by “Aillusory”, this video can give you an idea of what a remake of The Witcher 3 could look like. Well, when I say a remake, I mean a Next-Next-Gen Remake, because we won’t be getting anything like that when PS6 (or even PS7) comes out.
Now, what’s cool here is that Aillusory captured some in-game footage and used AI tools to make the game look photorealistic. And, as you will see, the results speak for themselves.
It’s not perfect, though. During motion, you can see a lot of artifacts. My guess is that the AI did not have enough samples to properly enhance the scenes, and that’s the main cause of them. Other than that, though, this AI concept video looks insane.
The reason a lot of people can’t stand the AI fake videos is because they can look bad and junky. Contrary to them, though, this one does not create characters out of thin air or animate them. This is why it looks so good. All the AI did was to improve the visuals. And that was it.
Another crucial thing to note is that it keeps the art style of the original game intact. The YouTuber did not change the faces of Geralt or Yennefer with some celebrities. Geralt looks like the in-game Geralt. Ciri looks like Ciri. Vezemir looks like Vezemir. Kaer Morhen looks exactly as you’d imagine.
To be honest, I don’t think we’ll ever get games that can look this good. At least in the next 10 years. With that in mind, I’m fine with such AI concept video remakes. Not only do they keep the art style intact, but they can also give us a glimpse into the future.
Anyway, this is a really cool video that pretty much all The Witcher 3 fans will appreciate. And you know what? This looks MILES BETTER than the fourth season of The Witcher on Netflix. So, sometimes, AI can do a better job than the humans who are responsible for such projects.
Enjoy!
