Third dev diary video for Hunt: Showdown focuses on level design

Crytek has released the third developer diary video for Hunt: Showdown, focusing on the game’s level design. Hunt: Showdown is a match-based first-person PvP monster hunter game, powered by CRYENGINE and featuring perma-death that aims to be an intense PvE and PvP experience.

In today’s video, Creative Director Magnus Larbrant, Lead Designer Dennis Schwarz, Producer Fatih Özbayram, Level Design Director Chris Auty, Lead Environment Artist Marcel Schaika, and Senior Level Designer Turgut Özbayram talk about the game’s level design.

Magnus Larbrant said:

“What made this company is open world, sandbox, you’re walking around in a cool environment and you’re approaching compounds—you’re doing this in Crysis, right? And if you take a look at Hunt, you’re in an open world, a sandbox world, you’re moving around compounds, you’re trying to infiltrate them. You have some special powers and stuff like this. A lot of gun play, a first persons hooter. This is why we’re doing this game: we’re playing to the strength of what we know.”

Enjoy!

  1. HUNT HOGA HUNT HOGA HUNT HOGA

Game looks great. I’m not a fan or player of these multiplayer only/asymmetrical gobbledygook style games, but it looks impressive nonetheless.

    1. Dont know why they cant just do a strong single player campaign. Imagine a single player campaign in that setting. I know they will eventually come around to doing one

  2. I want this to succeed but since it’s not early access add more stuff and fix nothing type of game it’ll most probably die 4 months after release date..

    Shame :(.
