Rocksteady just dropped a 20-minute video for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. In this video, the team spills the beans on the main story, how the Squad moves around, and gives us a sneak peek into the world of Metropolis.
From what I’ve seen, Rocksteady didn’t really fix the gameplay stuff that got people mad after the first trailer. King Shark is still using guns, and Harley Quinn swings around like Spider-Man with her grappling hook. So, if you were hoping for big changes in how the game plays, well, not much has changed.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League remains a Games as a Service (GaaS) game. The game appears to rely heavily on weapons, and won’t be focusing on melee combat like the Batman: Arkham games. And, as I’ve said before, this feels like a new Marvel’s Avengers game.
In April 2023, Warner Bros pushed the game’s release date by six months. My guess? They probably wanted to give us all some time to forget what we saw in that first gameplay trailer. Let’s be real, changing the whole core gameplay in just six months is an impossible task. So yeah, don’t expect any miracles from it.

Anyone who was expecting them to completely change the game with the last delay was only fooling themselves. It was never and will never happen. The game has been in development for nearly a decade, and won’t ever change. It’s gonna be exactly what it was when we first saw it. They only delayed it because they are hoping people forgot how bad and awful it looked. Rocksteady completely ruined all the goodwill they built up with the Arkahm trilogy.
We don’t know the turnover, and those studios suffer from it mostly in silence. Look at CD Projekt, still Cyberfunk was bought in droves.

Just so you know, 100% of the Rocksteady staff that wrote, directed and coded Arkham City is gone now, not a single worker in any position from that team remains at the company as of today (16 of November 2023).

MS can’t make any more acquisitions for a while. They burned that bridge when they forced the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Regulators would never permit them buying Rockstar or any of it’s rights.
WB was reportedly shopping around their game studios a ~1.5-2 years ago. I think the outcome was either A. They were asking for too much. or B. The interested parties reached the conclusion that the various studios were lacking in value without the attached WB owned IPs.
I think was either shortly before or after Discovery purchase of WB.
