Quake Champions latest trailer showcases its new Gore system

Bethesda and id Software have released a new trailer for Quake Champions, showcasing its new Gore system. This Gore system will be coming to the game soon and the following trailer will give you an idea of what you can expect from it.

Thanks to this new Gore system, players will be able to dismember their opponents. This system brings more gibs and blood to the game, and to be honest this system reminded me the one that was featured in Soldier of Fortune 1 and 2.

In case you weren’t aware of, Quake Champions is a return to the frenetic, fast-paced competition that established Quake as the originator of the multiplayer shooter genre more than 20 years ago.

“Quake Champions delivers the dark mythos of the first Quake combined with the groundbreaking multiplayer mayhem of Quake III Arena with a major modern twist – Champions. These fierce warriors each wield unique attributes and abilities, enabling players to compete in their own distinctive style, while adding an additional layer of strategy to the game.”

Enjoy!

  1. I got the game on the humble monthly and it’s literally nothing, you get 2 champions and have to pay a lot to unlock the others.

  2. So no BOT support till yet ? I wanted to practice some Maps with bots, but it seems we aren’t going to get this option anytime soon.

    I don’t play online/MP though, but I still I want to try this game….

    1. This.

I tried this since it’s early beta, and I’m honestly ticked that they still haven’t added bots into the game.

Their match making system is also terrible, so I keep getting pitted against Quaker’s all the time.

I just want to play against bots with some friends, but I guess that’s never going to happen with this crummy studio and it’s short sighted focus.

No wonder it’s popularity has dropped since release.

        1. It’s still free for those that use the free bethesda client either way.

It’s not really “objectively worse”, because that’s you clearly injecting your subjective “Oh I think you’re wrong” notion into it.

FN is making a ton of money, millions of people love the game. Those are the facts, and they and the players have benefited from the game merely existing.

I know what game you’re trying to play at this point, but it isn’t working.

          1. People will install it if they want to play it. I know I did because I simply wanted to try it out. I am not the only one person who did this, on a planet of 7+ billion.

In case you haven’t already noticed, trend chasing has been a thing since gaming began. Look at all the people who tried to copy Tetris, Pac-Man, Mario, Sonic, Doom and more over the years. It’s been a thing since the start and it will be a thing for many decades to come.

People have done this in so many other industries as well, from music to film, to art.

It’s not hurting the industry, because if you want to go by that measuring level, then all the other industries out there were always “objectively” being hurt year in and out. Except all those other industries are still alive and kicking,m the gaming industry included.

Copy cats can either succeed above the original, or fall before it and try at something else. That’s how it works with trend chasing, and it’s why Cliffy has stopped chasing the Overwatch train, and is now chasing the BR train.

You know why they go for BR right?. Because people love it and it’s making them money, which is why you see people pandering to it. look back at when the RTS genre was small, then Dune came about and then everyone wanted to follow C&C and Warcraft. Someone always sets a trend, and others seek to emulate said trend, in the hopes of finding the same level of success.

Everything isn’t being homogenized though. Nor did I specifically say I wanted everything to be 100% exactly the same (which is impossible at this point, both business wise and based on general reality).

    2. BOT support is coming, phase 1 (bots won’t be using abilities, they’ll in phase 2 of the patch) will be soon.

      1. Yeah, I know I sound stupid/idiotic, but I just wanted to TRY this game.

I just want to get a “feel” of the overall Gameplay mechanics, the weapon system, and other Gameplay parameters.

Without bots I don’t think I can do this ?

Quake III Arena had this option, but I never played the game online or MP, just with BOTS/computer-controlled players, which simulates the multiplayer experience.

  3. I got the game on the humble monthly and it’s literally nothing, you get 2 champions and have to pay a lot to unlock the others.

  4. Oddly enough, it looks out of place in this game… These devs don’t have a clue what they are doing.
They can only wish it had any resemblance to Quake I.

    1. I get that, but they try to slip in some loose reference to Quake I to cash on its reputation while this game has no real relation to it at all, and the whole point is that this feature was never a staple of the franchise while the general perception is that this game already doesn’t feel like Quake enough.

      1. “the general perception is that this game already doesn’t feel like Quake enough.”

well its not quake kiddo…. its quake champions. omfg.its supposed to be its own thing and not the new quake

      1. not even close! does Overwatch features advanced movement techniques unique for each champion? no? i’d recommend you to check some QC-duel vids before start compare it with such causual stuff like Overwatch.

        1. Each character has a special ability, I’ve played the beta. That said, it’s worse than Overwatch because you can’t choose a character unless you throw some money or grind forever.

          1. you can just buy “champions pack” and forget about “grinding” which is not a big deal at all since you can farm points to get your desired champ in 2 playrounds. QC is totaly different game for different audience, stop compare it with causual consololow centric garbage such as Overwatch!

  5. What the f*ck.

And here I thought after DOOM they’d at least be able to make something semi-decent in this regard……

  6. No similarity to Soldier of Fortune actually, in which you could keep shooting the gibs and chip polygons and bits out until there was nothing. Not preset pieces like here, but like procedurally.

    1. I remember playing that game as a little kid xD

      Dismemberment dismemberment dismemberment everywhere lol.

SOF 2 was nice too, although it focused less on violence if I remember.
