        1. Yeah, and there’s no problem with this. “Multiplayer only” isn’t some inferiority (like angry pitchfork wielders seem to think), it’s just a gameplay direction.
Titles made with multiplayer in mind can’t really have good singleplayer and vice versa (unless the company is so big it can have a cake and eat it).

Their choice was great, in my opinion. There are many games about war in which you are a one-man army and have to kill hundreds of enemies. This makes things ridiculous.
Also, who isn’t tired of those predictable, overdramatized and scripted cutscenes in which you sit in a heli and get shot, or fall down after some explosion and see over-the-top blurry actions of that-scripted-immortal-friend-of-the-protagonist who helps the player?
Such things depict the war as well as Rambo may do; if one wants to experience it unbiased, unscripted, exciting because you were REALLY about to be killed, multiplayer is the way to go.

          1. “if one wants to experience it unbiased, unscripted, exciting because you were REALLY about to be killed, multiplayer is the way to go.”

Not necessarily, for example there’s Operation Flashpoint 1 / ARMA series that does that fine in single player.

          2. Those are somewhat scripted (although WAY LESS than typical corridor shooters). You know that AI knows where you are but pretends not to be aware of it. It’s inferior to giving every unit their own brain (real-life players). In case of battles, people will usually make more interesting situations than dumb bots.
Of course this is my opinion, some people may be greatly satisfied with defeating artificial intelligence. For me it’s also satisfying to overcome hardnesses in games but I rather treat it like “yeah, I solved the Rubik’s cube” than “I kicked their bums”.
So it’s two different experiences, like apples and oranges, both “valid”.

By the way: why do you seem to think MP only = bad? You still didn’t tell.

          3. I got this point of view, but still, MP is too reliable on who you play to get something out of it. Relying on other people to have a good match is not that much enjoyable IMO (play with noobs, rekt everything, play with pros get rekt, not to mention the competitive side) while the SP scripted AI + set pieces are a nice balance.

          4. To each their own, of course. Having to rely on other people is a downside, but it gives something else in return. For some people this trade-off will be worthwile, for some it won’t.

It’s like with almost everything in the world :).

          5. I never said -or implied- that MP only is ‘bad’. It’s just that you can’t compare a SP FPS with a MP FPS. Totally different kind of games.

    1. I was gonna mention Strafe and John Romero’s new FPS to be revealed tomorrow, but those are probably gonna be 2017.

  1. Like i said better than doom, good thing it does not come out in may, it will be a shame if id software had to close down because of shadow warrior 2.

Oh and read the wikipedia page:

Mission structure in Shadow Warrior 2 is less restricted than its predecessor, players can now revisit earlier missions to re-engage past enemies in order to upgrade Wang’s skills. The game features a hub area where the player can acquire quests and upgrade their abilities before beginning a mission. Every mission, except for story-specific events, will feature procedurally generated level design and content, including randomized enemy positions, terrain, buildings, and weather conditions. The game utilises a procedural damage system that allows players to cut and blow off enemy limbs and body parts.

The game features over 70 different weapons, varying between firearms and blades. Killing enemies will level up weapons and reward the player with gems to augment their equipment with element properties and buffs plus 40 enemy types.

    WOW

    1. “acquire quests and upgrade their abilities before”

aaaannnd my interest is gone. What a shame.

This is clearly pandering to the instant gratification crowd who cant bare the thought of playing something that doesnt have xp points and junk collecting.

        1. Depth in today’s games is just buzz word for bloat or another way of saying “our game lacks of any real substance”.

          See:
          FarCry 3+
          Fallout 3+
          Tomb Raider 2016
          Destiny
          and so on…

  2. Now that looks quite promising.

So much for 2016 seemingly being a lost year for pc gaming.

    Low Hang 2 teh risque!

  3. Flying Wild Hog is my only hope for SP FPS these days. These guys know how to make a good shooter. Look at gameplay and that stunning art… much better than Doom. Lo Wang is in the town b*tches.

  4. >aim down sights
    >huge hitmarker and damage numbers in singleplayer
    >low FOV in a game about melee
    >it’s not even fast

What are you guys talking about? This is no better than Doom. And at least Doom is a shooter and you have to aim to some extent. In this game the enemies basically stand around waiting to be killed. The graphics and art style are INCREDIBLE (those rainy roof tops, wow) and the platforming looks fun but the movement and combat are designed with consoles in mind.

    1. > No just a zoom in option.
      >Can be disabled.
      >can be changed
      >only quake and unreal are as fast as you want. also tribes.

“This is no better than Doom”

      Has far better featurers

“at least Doom is a shooter and you have to aim to some extent”

Why on earth you think you dont have to aim here or that doom isnt haloised?

” the enemies basically stand around waiting to be killed. ”

Aside from far cry 4 i have not seen alot of ai movement the last few years. Or you think in the old games they did not stand around waiting to be killed?

      1. >far better featurers [than Doom]

        +Bigger, more open levels
        +Slightly more freedom of movement
-Same encounter pacing with half a dozen enemies tops, who mostly spawn in as you fight rather than populating an area before you get there
-Enemies are just as slow and melee focussed, hardly a threat at a distance

        >Why on earth you think you dont have to aim here or that doom isnt haloised?

Both of these game’s should be flattered to be compared with Halo. I’m dead serious. In Halo the maps are bigger than both these games, you (and the enemies!) have vehicles to get around fast, and even smaller enemies can be genuine threats at a distance. In these two games it seems you are safe unless you let yourself get rushed in CQC. Let’s call it a tie.

        >you think in the old games they did not stand around waiting to be killed?

It is a general problem of the genre. But enemies are always moving in Halo. Also in Half Life, Far Cry, FEAR, Crysis and many more. We were close to solving the problem before Gears of War, CODMW and their dozens of copycats pushed us back into the stone age.

  5. I’m not sure about the Borderlands-like structure of Shadow Warrior 2, but the gameplay itself is awesome! Let’s hope it doens’t disappoint.

  6. Good call! Of multiplayer CRAP. This is multiplayer GOLD!
Now please, explain to me, why do you write off games just because they are focused on multiplayer?
Personally, I hate jumping around like a monkey and shooting tons of bullets to kill an enemy. This is common in many multiplayer games but it doesn’t mean all of them are like this.
Of course, looking at TV ads you’ll see only blockbuster titles with aforementioned monkey jumping because those are the ones that generate the most money – they have broader audience and devs have to cater to it, making their games very vapid and full of boring clichés.

    1. All mp games nowadays are the same look at division, people thought it will be an next gen open world game, it essentially the same as destiny and warframe. Not much quality or content just repetitive grindfest.

      1. But you gave me examples of overhyped blockbusters. In my opinion, they are crap, too.
Metaphorically speaking, the fact that low-hanging apples are rotten doesn’t mean the whole tree has bad fruit.

        1. i wont argue that 1-2 mp games that will be dead in a few years are gonna be good for a while. I argue the trend not the exception.

  7. Looks awesome, No doubt it will be just as hard and I will be punching some inanimate object….again!

  8. They will not, they know the focus is the SP.
The ones that will probably b*tch about it are the ones expecting more depth from the MP.
