New Rune: Ragnarok video gives us a glimpse at its combat mechanics

Human Head Studios has released a new teaser video for Rune: Ragnarok that gives us a glimpse at its combat mechanics. The game will feature decapitations and players will be able to block the enemy attacks. However, this video also looks a bit rough (it was to be expected as the game is still in an early stage).

As the development team noted, this in-game footage features its classic brutal combat and the return of the egg-shaped movement that helped make Rune so tactical. It also demonstrates one of the intense atmospheres that you’ll encounter in your quest to stop Loki.

Rune: Ragnarok is the sequel to the 17-year old Rune game and is set in a dangerous universe where gods, beasts, and the last remaining humans struggle to survive. The game promises to combine brutal melee combat with rich, Norse-inspired mythology.

Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!

    1. Can i play the game at 1.25 the speed though? Or is this what gaming has come to “just imagine yourself playing a good game”.

  1. Woah. Human Head are back. Awesome 🙂 Hopefully this is a sign that they’ll be focusing less on the mobile platforms. Would love to see em make a Prey spiritual successor someday though. Sucks how they got screwed over in the past by Bethesda.

  2. Combat honestly looks rather garbage, with a heavy use of motion blur to simulate fast movement (which there isn’t even much of).

AI also looks to be completely dumb as bricks.

  3. The game is still very early in development so hopefully the speed up the combat since it only needs to be a little bit faster to be near perfect.

  4. I am sure the final game will be fine and solid. 1 thing the vid showed is that it has potential. Please be good.
