New RPCS3 – Most Promising PS3 Emulator – Video Shows In-Game Footage From PS3 Commercial Game

YouTube’s ‘B1ackDaemon’ has released a new video from RPCS3 – the most promising PS3 emulator that is currently under development – that shows in-game footage from Voodoo Chronicles: The First Sign. And while there is no doubt that there is still a lot of work to be done, it’s really cool witnessing the baby steps of this emulator. Enjoy the video after the jump!

  1. Can’t wait for the day I can add this to my hyperspin media centre with every other system in the history of man minus the 3DS and original xbox. (sadly no emulation)
Till then my jailbroken PS3 does the trick but my god the fps and res is horrible. RDR is one of the best games I’ve ever played but on a 60inch TV it looks like pure monkey garbage.

    1. Preach it! More justification on why such an awesome game should have been released on the PC!

      Here’s hoping it still does!

  2. This is huge improvement over the last video . This time frame rates are much better and also no glitches . We are getting there guys 🙂

    1. Anything above 8 FPS is good enough for me! At least it’s not a total slide show. 🙂 Its moving “smooth”

  3. PS3 emulation ? I’m still waiting for good ps2 emulator, and even today PCSX2 ps2 emulator is far from perfect. Games looks correct only in software mode (512×512, 640×480 resolutions most of the time) but still renderring speed isnt perfect (but games are playable). Although In hardware mode renderring speed is always perfect (and that mode support higher resolutions) it’s also missing important graphic effects (mainly postprocessing). For example god of war 2 is emulated without fog, shadows, bloom etc. and it’s almost different game without these effects. 3 months ago I asked on PCSX2 forum why they cant fix problems with missing effects in games, and they replied it’s not possible, at least on current hardware :). So correct ps2 emulation isnt possible even on current hardware, and ps3 is much more powerful compared to ps2, that’s why I have no illusions about ps3 emulation anytime soon 🙁

    1. i finished god of war,god of war 2 and metal gear solid 3 using PCSX2 on my i5 4440 and r7 260x at 6x native resolution with 60 fps and no problems at all

      1. Really ? Even PCSX2 programers wrote me, that nothing could be done about missing graphic effects in games, but you know better ? So post your screenshot from god of war 2, first level while you looking at this Colossus of Rhodes, and I will tell you what effects are missing (for example you will be missing character shadows and fog for sure :P). And BTW, I had no performance problems in “hardware mode” and even above 6x internal resolution on my 3570K 4.5 GHz and 680GTX (above 770 clocks), but try “software mode” and you will see, that your PC will strugle even with 512×512 resolution 🙂 (but at least game will be running all graphic effects in that software mode, for example shadows, bloom, and fog).

I really wanted to play god of war games on PC with better picture but in current PCSX2 state, I prefer playing ps3 god of war collection. It’s only 720p, but at least there’s no downgrades in graphic quality.

    2. I think you should use a good GPU. my old pc with 9600 gt played like you described. So please change it if you can.

  4. Still a long way to go. And hardware wise we will probably need something even beyond Nvidia’s Pascal and Intel’s Skylake. I think we are going to need such a powerful hardware that will make Pascal and Skylake look ancient tech.

  5. Much more interested to see if they can somehow patch or hack PS4/One games to run on PC since the hardware is so similar. It would come in handy for those ‘exclusives’.
