New gameplay footage surfaces for Remedy’s Control, new developer diary introduces Jesse Faden

At EGX 2018, Remedy showcased some new gameplay footage for its upcoming third-person action adventure game, Control. This footage packs some new, never before seen, scenes, though for its majority its similar to both the E3 2018 and Gamescom 2018 builds.

Moreover, Remedy has released a brand new developer diary in which it introduces the game’s main protagonist, Jesse Faden.

Control is a sandbox-style, gameplay-driven experience built on the proprietary Northlight engine that promises to challenges players to master a combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments while fighting through the deep and mysterious worlds Remedy is known and loved for.

Control will be one of the first titles that will support real-time ray tracing and even though it shares some similarities with Remedy’s previous title, Quantum Break, it will be using a new physics middleware.

The game is currently planned for a 2019 release.

Enjoy!

  1. This game looks absolutely fantastic. It’s the first game idea that Sam Lake has had since Max Payne that truly looks like it could be just as good. What ever physics engine they’re using looks great too. I can’t wait for this to come out!

    1. Well, i am a sucker for this kinda of silent hill, fear paranormal scripted stuff and i like the idea of scp, even the game is unbearable for me. This looks ok, it is basically using assets from quantum break and has a female character, because every game needs to have a female character these days to get the thumbs up from jounos, its essentially a budget game, notice how the enviroments are simplistic like they came out from the game qube or Naissancee, thats what it is really a low budget bid to make money. There was a similar game a while ago called Past cure. Overall i like the flying part , but it needs better enemy designs, they are too generic and samey.

      1. Quantum Break was a linear 3rd person action game, and Control is going to be an open world Metroidvania based 3rd person action game. Just because they’re both 3rd person action games and have powers =/= the same thing.

  4. The physics and dynamics of the environments are really awesome! But the environments really lack variety right now…hope htey have that in the final game. It looks very interesting…uptil now I was not really excited but this presentation got me a bit interested.
Max Payne IMHO is the greatest action game of all time…so always have high hopes from Remedy!

    1. They are not showing you environmental variety on purpose. Its part of the gameplay. Control looks like an Alan Wake & Quantum Break hybrid.

    2. The reason the environment looks generic is because its a low budget game also destruction physics. Detailed environments cost alot of money…and time.
