Dead Island 2 new screenshots-1

New Dead Island 2 gameplay footage shows off dismemberment & detailed damage system

GameInformer has shared a new gameplay video for Dead Island 2 that showcases the game’s zombie dismemberment and highly detailed damage system.

To be honest, this damage system brought me memories of Soldier of Fortune 2. And since I liked everything I saw in this video, I’m all in. Unfortunately, though, the player movement still feels a bit slow. I guess Dambuster didn’t learn anything from Dying Light. So no, I don’t expect this game to have any parkour elements.

But anyway, Dead Island 2 will take players across the most iconic locations of the City of Angels. Players will explore iconic, gore-drenched Los Angeles, and meet larger-than-life characters. Additionally, they will slay countless foes in exquisitely bloody detail, and evolve to become the ultimate Zombie Slayer.

Deep Silver will release Dead Island 2 on April 28th, 2023.

Enjoy!

    1. This zombie was/we’re/is transitioning. I’m not too clear on it’s timeline. But one thing is for sure, we’re onto something here. ???

    2. I dont know about this but the picture looks like that blackface disney cartoon with big red lips and missing teeth.

    1. unlike dying light this game is far more gun focused and no grappling hook, i am not saying which is better just telling it like it is.

    2. Both games come from the same developer, Techland.
Dying Light originated as a derivative of what intended to be Dead Island 2 and when the parkour and RPG mechanics started taking over they decided to spin it off into something else.

  1. Something feels wrong about reading an article about how dismemberment looks good and you’re supposed to feel excited about it. ?

  2. Dead Island 1 was a mouse destroyer, just spamming left click and win. I liked the game, but that “combat” is so poor, I hope is better this time.

    1. It doesn’t seem any better from the looks of it. I was hoping for a more involved melee design. You have all these enemies taking huge swings at you and all the feedback you get is a little screen shake. It would have been great if the hits that land on you would push you back, force you to turn in a different direction momentarily losing sight of the walker, adding to the tension, because you know the zombie keeps coming.

Blows from bigger enemies could knock you off your feet, and you’d need some time to recover, etc… I don’t know, it’s not rocket science. These are games designed entirely around melee combat but it looks so bland and generic…

  4. I’m diggin it! Love excessive gore in games…SOF series are the true pioneers of this kind of gore system imho…

  5. Dismemberment is nothing new in video games. I’ve been dismembering enemies since Soldier of Fortune, and that came out 23 years ago lol,

  6. After the letdown that was dying light 2, this feels like the actual sequel to the first dying light (minus the traversal tools) especially with this detailed damage and dismemberment system.
