YouTube’s ‘Cycu1’ has shared a new video, showcasing a WIP RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Need for Speed: Most Wanted. This video also compares this mod with the original version, so it can give you an idea of their graphical differences.
As with pretty much all of the RTX Remix Mods we’ve shared, this is in a very early development stage. In other words, it does not represent the quality of its final version. So, make sure to keep that in mind.
From what we can see, the RTX Remix Mod completely removes the colorgrading effects. As a result of that, the game looks completely different from its original version. Not only that but there are a lot of visual glitches and bugs. For instance, there are ghosting issues behind the car. The lighting does not also appear to affect the smoke effects.
Back in October 2023, we shared a video from a different RTX Remix Mod for NFS: Most Wanted. And, in my opinion, that mod looked better.
In January, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Last week, we also shared a video from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas RTX Remix.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders have released early demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Tomb Raider, Max Payne and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then there is this amazing RTX Remix Mod for Need for Speed: Underground 2. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2, Quake, Half-Life and Serious Sam.

It’s a racing game and a yellow filter is no super stylized but if you feel that strongly you can add it back with reshade. Problem forever solved.
This is a racing game not some stylized single player story game or that argument would make more sense especially since the only thing that is technically not aligned with that original vision is the yellow color grade added in post hence a simple reshade fix
The real issue is the destruction of performance using remix and no ability to optimize it

This is one of few games it actually makes sense in and you don’t need a yellow filter for atmosphere in a racing game for atmosphere.. we aren’t talking about some single player story driven game here lol

same things applied to cp77 “realistic” graphics mods, blown out skies, soft shadows only no hard shadow lines, muted colors from gits or nova but muted even more w reshade tweaks etc The nova modder even released a lut that mocks these paid for reshade settings on youtube lol
@3:03 so dark in the tunnel = crash, tehehe. Also, I had no idea the original had so much of that classic early 2010s look with the brown/orange filter and tons of bloom; it does indeed look awful.

Applying RTX is one thing, applying it correctly by updating the light sources and textures to respect the tone of the game is a full work not everyone is willing or capable to make.
It’s not one vs the other; it’s both:
– Yes, with rtx and without its color filter, it looks gray and dull artistically, at least for now
– Yes, the lighting and shadowing with rtx is more technically accurate
– And Yes, whatever you think of the characteristic brown/yellow color filter of the game, it can be added back as postprocessing on top of the rtx, and if the devs were smart, they could let you adjust its intensity and make everyone happy.

Looks like a simple reshade could have been applied to vanilla to get rid of the filter and then some textures for the road. In fact the proxy nvidia advertiser here looks to have added upscaled road textures and more mods then put in the rtx. Heavy ghosting there also, very heavy, and this is a 3080 I think so that’s pretty bad. Tries to hide it driving in the yellow middle part of the road lol do better huh and as an add some peopl like impressionist or cubist paintings over photography of the same subjects, gaming isn’t better for just photo realism but that’s what rtpt is trying to do mostly. Whole sales gimmick just for that is crazy.
