Here is your first look at Obsidian’s new RPG, Tyranny

During a Twitch stream, Obsidian Entertainment showcased its new RPG, Tyranny. YouTube’s ‘GAMESTATION’ has captured this footage and below you can find a video showing 40 minutes of gameplay footage.

In Tyranny, the grand war between good and evil is over – and the forces of evil, led by Kyros the Overlord, have won. Yeap, evil has prevailed. It’s a really new and cool concept for an RPG so it will be interesting to see if this decision will pay off.

According to Obsidian, players’ decisions will have far-reaching consequences and change both the land and its people, providing a non-linear, highly replayable experience.

Tyranny is planned for a 2016 release.

Enjoy!

    1. I’m so sad that ARPG’s are declining and me having less options to play my one of my fave genres, just like with RTS being dormant compared to 4x and TBS games.

      1. Pillars of eternity, divinity original sin and sin 2 being massively funded, wolcen lords of mayhem. not to mention the countless diablo clones popping up, its not declining, weve been getting more and more good ones in the last 3 years. Plus pillars of eternity took home a stupid amount of awards so the genre is still highly respected

        1. DoS and it’s second iteration have real time exploration, their combat isn’t exactly like Diablo’s in every single way or flow. Same with PoE.

Wolcen has yet to be finished as well as seeing the final overall result once it’s finished, design changes can easily happen and sway the game in general.

“Countless diablo clones”, by that you likely mean those little ones, not the ones that are massively funded, or critically acclaimed along with being of AAA quality. Those clones I’ve seen are either indie shots that sell a few and are fun for a bit and then die down.

RTS genre isn’t dead to some people because they have X or Y games, yet we still haven’t seen something blow up the genre like C&C/Supreme Commander, AoE. No genre is technically “dead” to some but to others it can lack a lot of what they previously liked about the genre.

Lets use PS4 as an example, it has so much to offer, so much variety and yet all that “variety” doesn’t interest me because it doesn’t have the variety that I want, it doesn’t have games *I* want. DO you see where I am coming from with this?.

  1. After watching the vid I think I’ll pass. I’m really not fun of turn based or still combat where you stand still for moments on end with animations repeating over and over until you make another move.

How I wish for more Diablo styled ARPG games, but those seem far and few in between compared to games like these.

      1. Tried and enjoyed it during it;s time from ea to release. I’m looking for something more recent, something due out this year or next. Something in abundance like with the rise of 4X and TBS games are getting.

    1. compared to Tyranny-like games, Diablo style ARPGs are still more popular these days, but yea maybe in the future chances are they will be in decline in comparison. for now though as far as modern gaming is concerned, it’s only Obsidian that really cares about real time tactical CRPGs (Tyranny-like games) and Sword Coast Legends isn’t really in the same category as the likes of Tyranny as far as combat is concerned.

doesn’t mean you can’t wish for more Diablo-like games though necessarily and good for you in that case.

    1. The issue has already been resolved. The author was very gracious about the whole thing. Anyway Bethesda were totally within their legal rights to do so. It’s in their terms of agreement. Had it been his own indie game, then different matter.

      1. Yeah, it’s known that everything you do in the Creation Kit is owned by Bethesda, a different thing is Bethesda actually profiting on those mods by including them in their own game and not even acknowledging the original creator.
