Here is Counter-Strike’s dust2 map being recreated in CRYENGINE

Our reader Tom has informed us about a recreation of Counter-Strike’s iconic dust2 map in CRYENGINE. This map was recreated by TekVoL and uses some of CRYENGINE’s tech features (like screen-space reflections).

In addition, it appears that Tekvol did not recreate the objects from scratch in order to resemble those used in the original dust2 map. Instead, Tekvol used the objects that were already available in CRYENGINE.

As a result of that, this recreation feels like a modern take to dust2, something that makes it look cool.

Naturally, this is simply a cool fan project and nothing more.

Enjoy!

  1. It looks nice but I guess he wasn’t going for a exact recreate because some of the areas look too large and open compared to the map on CS especially at A bomb.

I’d like to see him actually scale it properly

  2. This garbage does not warrant an article.
No news to post about so you resort to this? Even the f*ckin CryZEN spam is better than this.

  3. The reflections are a mess. Pretty much none of the walls should be reflective. It seems every last surface is running reflections and it comes with all the artifacts that we usually see on wet floors in recent games now also happening on all walls and other props. At first I thought there was something going horribly wrong with ambient occlusion before I realized he had activated reflections on materials that aren’t reflective in the real world.

  4. I hate to admit it but the other readers are right. The flow of news in the site is really slow. My suggestion is that you also cover news on PC hardware related news as this site’s a PC exclusive site. I wanted to suggest this last year because of the same issue but I didn’t but now I think it would really help the site. I would love to volunteer but I just don’t have that much free time 🙁

    1. Honestly the same sort of thing happens over on PCGamer, they just run with ooh’s and ahh type articles rather than the vast network of PC news that’s out there to cover.

      1. This is not PCGamer though. Those as*wipes don’t even analyze the games they review and just adds hype to the game they were paid to advertise —__—

  5. I fcking hate Dust_2. I dont even recall last time I played this $hit. OverPass, Train and NewInferno r my favorite tough!

    PS: Gold3

    1. It would especially confuse people since you’re asking to remake a game engine inside of game built on a far less powerful game engine.
