Our dear friends over at Gameumentary have released a 30-minute documentary video covering the history of Runic Games. Runic Games is a Seattle-based American computer game company formed by Travis Baldree, Max Schaefer and Erich Schaefer, Peter Hu, and the Flagship Studios Seattle team. The team was responsible for Torchlight I & II, and is currently working on HOB. It’s a pretty interesting documentary, so go ahead and take a look!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. I like Torchlight 1 and 2, the aprg that feels good to play since Diablo 2. Almost every other arpg is filled with poor animation, clunky gameplay and poor presentation.
What are they doing nowadays? I would love to play Torchlight 3 or any other action RPG made by Runic.
They’re working on Hob now. Not an ARPG but it looks interesting. I’m definitely looking forward to it.
