Here is 9 minutes of brand new gameplay footage from Prey

Bethesda has released a new trailer for Prey, featuring almost nine minutes of pure Prey gameplay, with some light narration from Creative Director Raphael Colantonio and Lead Designer Ricardo Bare. Arkane Studios’ sci-fi thriller feels like “System Shock in space” and promises to blend simulation and narration, dropping you into a carefully crafted world, then setting you free to play as you want. Enjoy!

  1. Ehh 🙁 This console UI is pure cancer. Gameplay looks cool and this game is on CryEngine soo there is hope that this will not be a garbage port like Dishonored 2 was.

  2. Not sure what to make of this. Nothing about it is very exciting and I cant see any resemblance to the original game.

          1. No really, the reveal trailer made it look like this new Arkane studio was just doing Dishonored in Space. This gameplay trailer on the other hand does indeed make it look more like Dishonored + Bioshock in Space, with maybe a side of Half-Life & System Shock, but regardless, little faith;

            – It’s a reboot (Yes, only in name).
            – It’s not the original Arkane studio, so it’s a different team (Andromeda).
            – It’s doing a lot of ripping off, to be honest……

….. Yeah, sure, it’s ripping off some great IPs, but it takes more than slapping together a bunch of features from them to generate a good game……

          2. ” It’s not the original Arkane studio, so it’s a different team (Andromeda).”

Yup. I told someone on this site about that.

      1. No, they are just borrowing the IP name, the script they are re-using is the supposed script for SS3.
        It is weird like that.

      1. Otherside Entertainment is.
But I was wrong, not SS3, but a spiritual sucessor to SS2 (according to the design documents leak).

        1. Yeah thats what i mean, i thought they cancelled it the way you said it. I have seen the documents you talking about, personally i liked the first idea, pretty deep and twisty. Looks like they went with the second one though.

  3. So let me get this straight: you’re facing an unknown aggressive alien entity that has the power of morphing into a wide variety of objects in a blink of an eye, and from the looks of it pretty much overwhelmed an entire space station…and all you need to fight it is a f°#*ing iron wrench??? O_o

I can’t tell if it’s just me that’s getting wiser or these f’ing “creative” directors are getting dumber by the year.

    1. Doom/Knuckle, Quake/Axe, Duke Nukem/Might Foot, Half Life/Crowbar, System Shock/Bioshock/Wrench, and countless, countless others.

Nothing new, it is basically a staple of FPSs.

      1. As a long time (20 years almost) FPS fan, I played all of those games and their sequels and I can assure you I understand and very much welcome the concept of having the melee combat as a first way of engaging your enemy or your surroundings in a game. That is not where my problem stands with this video.

My problem is you as a Creative Director go out of your way of presenting this story (referring to “The History of TranStar” trailer) of how mankind encountered an alien species and how that heavily influenced it’s history and the technology advancements thereafter simply because this thing’s nature simply defies the known laws that govern energy and matter as we know it! I’m not a scientist but it looks like it could be made of some mysterious exotic fluid-like matter and can easily live in outer space but can also mimic common matter…that’s such a cool concept!

So why the f*°# would you just trash that to the ground and tear the aura of mystery and novelty you build around it, by being able to kill it with just pieces of iron or led (bullets)!? Why is this thing such a threat if all it takes is some dude with a wrench to put it in it’s place? Why does the Creative Director think we are just that retarded to not notice this huge inconsistency?

To put it more in perspective, it would be like a brand new Alien movie coming out with huge budget, stellar cast and Ridley Scott directing and in the first Alien encounter, the protagonist picks up a wrench and just hits the thing on it’s head….and the xenomorph f##ker drops to the floor dead O__O

I tend to exaggerate but if something like that would happen you would probably have a couple of movie theaters burned down on premiere day due fan rage.

Conclusion: lazy story by brain dead developers with copy-paste gameplay from past critically acclaimed franchises like Bioshock/System Shock.

        Pass

    1. This game will be released in 1 year from now so they have at least 1 year to optimize it. We will need 1180 for 5k ultra settings 60 fps but for 4k ultra 60 fps a titan c or even a 1080 will be enough

        1. Why because iam telling the truth? If it is well optimzed a gtx 1080 and up will run it 4k 60 fps max settings. But untill then it releases we might have a card that will be 100% faster than 1080 like 1180 or something similar.

  4. I dont see whats wrong with that i always wanted a new system shock, not fun of the 70s enviroments i would prefer the alien environments from ss1 (as ripped form the movie alien) But looks fun.
