Here are 20 minutes of new gameplay footage from Obsidian’s upcoming RPG, The Outer Worlds

At PAX East 2019, Obsidian showcased a brand new demo from its upcoming RPG, The Outer Worlds. In this 20-minute gameplay playthrough, Obsidian shows a small quest where the player is accompanied by 2 characters: Nyoka and Felix. This video also shows the game’s multiple choice dialog system, some of the weapons available, the looting and character customization system, as well as the general freedom that players will have in the game.

The Outer Worlds is a player-driven story RPG in which your choices affect not only the way the story develops, but your character build, companion stories, and end game scenarios. The game comes with a “Flaws” feature via which it tracks your experience to find what you aren’t particularly good at. This optional approach to the game promises to help players build the character they want while exploring Halcyon.

It’s worth pointing out that The Outer Worlds will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for one year, meaning that it will come out on Steam in 2020 and not in 2019.

Enjoy!

      1. Not anymore he is not. It seems that DSOG has pirates crawling under the bed. No matter how bad the game is, if you don’t like it you can ignore it. But people here right now seem to be advocating for piracy because they disagree with business decisions of the company.

        1. He is. these company’s business decisions are the things that pushing piracy. also that does not have anything to do with him whining about people’s comments about Epic. it’s a s**t move and s**t practice and you have to point that out everytime all the time.

          1. ” these company’s business decisions are the things that pushing piracy.”

“If I have to download an inferior launcher, I am justified in pirating the game”

I just hope people don’t come to this site and read the comments, they might think all PC gamers are idiots

          2. Yeah, you just showed yours.

Pushing people towards piracy =/= justified piracy, it just push more people towards it you moron.

          1. To be a shill I must be pushing a alternate product which I wasnt. At least make some effort to comprehend what you type. You immediately sound like/ are an abject imbecile.

          2. You do re*ard, this topic is Epic related and your original comment was criticizing everyone before they even talk s**t about Epic, the company that you are shilling for, paid or free doesn’t matter, a sheep is a sheep.

          3. Reading comprehension and proper application of the English language takes time and diligence, you should stay in school or go back to. At the end of the day Amir I can only lead the imbecile (you) to water, I cant make the imbecile (you) drink. Best of luck out there, you’ll definitely need it.

          4. Hurr Durr why you no english, the world belongs to me and my bubble is the world and everyone should live like i do in my bubble. try harder fa*

      1. Yeah why do people care about epic? It’s like listening to some kid at the toy store who’s mom didnt buy them what they wanted.

  1. Looking so damn good! Can’t wait for the game to come out. Buying this one first day if it ends up getting good reviews.

      1. It’s not just this video, its everything that has been released so far.

The game appears to be the type of RPG I like, as you’re free to do what ever you want. Violent run? Possible. Pacifist run? Possible. Somewhere in the middle of both? Possible.

Loving the Metropolis art deco futurism for the whole game world, alongside the characters.

It has the spiritual successor vibe for Fallout New Vegas going pretty strong for itself. Which is fantastic since I’m craving that style after Fallour 04 left a hole.

And obsidian has yet to disappoint me in terms of having well written characters, dialogue, and humor.

I’m purchasing it first day because I also havent played a bad Obsidian game in recent times; they have been incredibly consistent with how good their games are lately.

  2. I’m sure it will get better over time, or they’re showing it off on a simplistic difficulty so the AI seems not as smart.

With that said, I’m loving the writing too. made me laugh pretty damn hard.

    1. I was playing with my settings on nvidia control panel yesterday. After seeing tearingI thought I screwed all settings. Glad it’s from the video.

  3. This Free To Play game looks half decent, I don’t understand why there are so many dislikes on the video.

  4. This game is going to be buggy AF. I’ll wait a year or so when the community has moded most of the bugs out and there’s a sale on the GOTY edition.

  5. Interesting that its core premise is based on a completely anti-consumerist and corporate world (or worlds) run amok, but then they go with Epic to lock their game into an anti-consumer 3rd party exclusive for a big pile of cash.

No honor among mercenaries. People will sell their grandmothers for money. Maybe their vision of the future in this game isnt that far off, especially given how they are now part of the problem.

  6. im amazed by the number of poor people paid by gabe for posting sh*t. but then again, this is a job too.

  7. don’t worry, when this game comes out and most likely gets decent reception, you’ll be even more salty 🙂
