Last week, Microsoft revealed an official remake of the first Halo game in Unreal Engine 5, called Halo: Campaign Evolved. So, here are two videos that compare this remake with the remastered and original versions of Halo: Combat Evolved.
These videos will give you an idea of the changes between the remake, the remaster, and the original version. So, if you are a big Halo fan, you should definitely check them out.
In my opinion, the remake looks superior to both the remaster and the original versions. This is coming from someone who has played all versions of the first Halo game. Still, if you don’t like it, you can skip it and replay the remaster or the original. These will still be available, even when the remake comes out.
Halo is a game I was really looking forward to back in the late 90s. This was one of the games that made 3DFX finally add support for 32-bit colors in its Voodoo graphics cards. It was a game that looked beyond anything we’ve seen. It was also a game that mesmerized everyone when it was showcased at E3 2000. And, it was a game that made a lot of PC gamers hate Microsoft for making it exclusive to the first Xbox.
Halo: Campaign Evolved will be a faithful modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolvedโs campaign. The game will have the entire campaign of the first Halo game, as well as three brand-new prequel missions featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson.
Players will also have access to more weapons, vehicles, enemies, and special โSkulls.โ These Skulls are optional modifiers that make combat more fun and challenging. On top of that, the game will offer new tactics and tons of replayability.
Halo: Campaign Evolved will support solo and up to 4-player online co-op. There will be full crossplay and cross-progression support. This means that PC gamers will be able to play with their console friends, whether they are on PlayStation or Xbox.
Halo Studios has also added some quality-of-life improvements. Players can now sprint, aim, and fight with smoother, more precise controls. For the first time in Halo: CE, you can use 9 extra classic weapons from the series, like the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, and Needle Rifle.
Microsoft plans to release Halo: Campaign Evolved sometime in 2026.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Will there be a remake version of Red vs Blue?
modern video game market can be summed up as much
-game gets anounced
-takes forever to come out
-it sucks
-its not finished it has bugs
-its badly optimized
-you buy it when its cheap
-the studio does layoffs
-they remake the original game in the trilogy
-it sucks
-you buy it when its cheap
-they re-remake the game again because better graphics obviously make the game better and more sales
-the original game gets delisted so you only have the remaster and the remake
-the game you bought is now outdated because they are remaking it again.
I dont see why should anyone invest in this industry, it has become netflix, rent the slop, have some fun, move on with your life. Games are no longer art, they are corporate slop.
Only one thing is wrong though, I don't buy them at all if they suck. Especially, all UE5 titles. Not even pirate worthy. Never touched any. Internet is enough to give you idea how they will perform. I only buy selected titles 1-2 games in a year. That keeps my wallet warm
same i mostly play indies and old games now, AAA is too much hassle, too expensive, too long, too repettive, too many bugs and updates, too high requirements, i play games to unwind not to do an extra job and get through all these hoops so i can review the game like its my jobs, games are not fun anymore because they are not fun, not because i grew up or something. Also the fact every game is the same and its mediocre really kills any hype i would have for new games due to so many bad experiences over and over.
I go straight to the comments section and it's 50+ comments of users that hate halo and or unreal…..
Thinking to myself how can you care so little about something and yet care so much about typing about how little you care about that very thing. Usually I just skip the game if care so little about it.
anyways, I thought the comparison was interesting. I never got into Halo until much later. Halo was only successful because it was considered a launch title. So I'm guessing gamers at the time were just having fun playing with what they had to play. At 60$ it was considered one best games on the market.
In today's age of gaming where many gamers probably shred through a lot of first person shooters, Halo 1 probably wouldn't have done that great. So the remake is more like an antique with a new paint job at best.
That being said im sure the remake was made for the fans.
So you never tested any of ue5 games but you know they are bad? You dont have your own mind and youre proud of it ? xD
I finished some ue5 games like stalker 2 and it was quite great game.
That game runs like garbage
When I can watch the game stutter on PC with way higher specs online, Why bother wasting time, bandwidth and storage only to check if it stutters or not on my PC ? Ofc it will. Only a fool would ignore all the evidence. UE5 is the worst game engine of this generation.
Meanwhile, me modding the hell out of 25 years old games ๐๐
That's the way to go. Modding >>> UE5 remasters/remakes.

Who gives a sh*t about gaylo?
2001: Overrated console shooter
2010: Same sh*t
2025: Same sh*t with stutters
I'm an ex-console gamer turned PC gamer, FPS always has been my #1 favorite genre. As an ex-console gamer, I personally can tolerate console shooters and let me tell you that Halo is a big piece of crap.
It's not just because it's a "console shooter", but because Halo itself (as a game) is a big piece of crap. It nowhere deserves even a quarter of all the fandom it got back in the day and all the countless media it got (spin-offs like ODST and Reach and even non-games like comics, animated movies, etc. and even an entire fan-made series called Red VS Blue by Rooster Teeth back in the day).
I played them all the way back in the day when they were still new and they never impressed me even back then and I always questioned why it is so popular.
Thank God that the opinion of Halo being extremely overrated is not an unpopular opinion.
So true, I never ever gave a sh*t about gaylo, not a single thing about this entire franchise is appealing to me.
Yes, Gaylo more like it, a common and timeless insult that I remember people using even back in the 2000s.
because they mad fps on a controller work and had vehicles and weapons and enemies were like cod, meaning few weapons and enemies instead of fighting spiders with a pistol in level one and giants with a bfg in level 10.
Strong and very agressive marketing + dumb teenagers is what made Halo popular beyond what it really deserves, i still remember all the TV coverage of the launch of Halo 2 with these massive queues of people waiting to buy the game and they were all talking about that rather than the game itself, they were so eager to take part of the trend and that's how the Halo fanbase was born and that's why the Halo fanbase isn't known as a smart group of people.
"Strong and very agressive marketing + dumb teenagers is what made Halo popular beyond what it really deserves"
Yep, that also explains why ((($oyny's))) dogshit ghey propagandas cost hundreds of millions to make, because 95% of the budget goes into overmarketing their trash g๓ h๓ ey propagandas while just 5% goes into actual coding.
In all honesty, I've been saying that even before the Activi$ion-Mi๓ cr๓ o๓ $๓ hit buyout that almost all the hundreds of millions of the budgets for ((($oyny's))) ghey propagandas goes only into marketing while a single digit millions goes into actual coding, and after the buyout, it only further proved my claims. ((($oyny))) was just very pathetic when they were constantly seething and crying in agony when M๓ i๓ c๓ r๓ o$hit was taking away their precious Call of Doodie from their Ghey$tation, because that's where all of ((($oyny's))) revenue turned out to come from.
For once, Mi๓ c๓ r๓ o๓ $hit did the world a favor by damaging ((($oyny))) financially and ultimately resulted in ((($oyny))) massively reducing their trash g๓ h๓ ey propagandas, hence why the G๓ h๓ e๓ y$tation 5 have been collecting dust just shortly after the buyout (they didn't take away COD for THAT reason of course, but whatever, the end result is what matters).
The issue with Halo is that unlike games that followed the Goldeneye formula, Halo was a PC FPS on console which meant heavy bullet magnetism and autoaim.
I still enjoy CE, mostly it's atmosphere, but in terms of gameplay it paled compared to it's contemporaries on PC.
Yes, the only thing that Halo does right is the atmosphere. That's pretty much it.
FINALLY I find somebody who agrees. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it's not an unpopular opinion. lol
I have also tons of FPS, I've been playing them since Half-Life in 1998 (my first PC).
Even back in 2001, Halo was extremely overrated and disappointing. I remember thinking "huh? So this is what everybody is going crazy about?"
I already played tons of much better FPS back then.
Gunman Chronicles, Half-Life, Kingpin, Unreal, No One Lives Forever, and of course even older ones like Blood, Duke Nukem, Exhumed, Heretic & Hexen, etc.
And let's even mention immersive sims like Thief, Deus Ex, System Shock 2…
All of these gems came out before Halo and they're miles better.
In comparison, Halo feels so generic, empty and boring.
Halo wasn't overrated on PC.
No one gave a sh*t about halo on PC, I grew up playing classics and never heard it's good by anyone in my friend groups. I just remember the box art or whatever it's called looking dumb as hell and I also remember no one bought them.
It was probably only a thing in US and UK.
Mostly in the US, when something is successful in the US their people tend to think it's a worldwide success by default, the average American thinks their football that is played with hands is the most popular sport in the world and that explain why they can't f*cking point their own country in the map.
Exactly. And speaking of stupid 'MuriKKKans and PC gaming, they think that just because some 'MuriKKKan nerds gamed on a PC back in the 1990s they think that applied every single where in the entire world while not realizing that almost nobody in third world countries (even the most diehard gamers excluding the low IQ fa๓ gg๓ ots who only play football and then call themselves "gamers" of course) gamed on PC back in the 2000s, much less the 1990s.
In fact, even today PC gaming still isn't the dominant gaming platform in third world countries and these re๓ t๓ ards seriously believe that absolutely everyone gamed on a PC back then just because some 'MuriKKKan nerds gamed on a PC back then. I'm not an Eastern European, but I've read a comment from an Eastern European that PC gaming only started becoming popular in the 2000s.
Stupid 'MuriKKKans and understanding other people's different POVs challenge: impossible.
Most of them played on consoles like everyone else, PC was really expansive in the 90s even in the US
Europe was absolutely dominated by PC gaming back then, what the fck are you talking about?
Didn’t I make it clear that I was specifically talking about Eastern Europe?
Eastern and Northern Europe was dominated by PC gaming the most out of any other region on the planet
Whoever you spoke to talked out of his a*s
OK.
"and that explain why they can't f*cking point their own country in the map."
Based "Americans are NOT stupid – WITH SUBTITLES" video enjoyer.
US is a large country with 300M people, how can you call all of them stupid?
I didn’t mean absolutely “all” of them without even a single exception, I just meant many of them are stupid.
And I know that saying “all [group of people] are [word]” is the not only the language of the ignorant, but also the language of extremists.
Everyone I know played Halo on PC. My younger brother was the only person I knew who had an Xbox.
I’m in my 30s, I don’t know a single person who played or like halo games.
The thing is most people on PC didn't give a F about it, and the port was one the worst ports ever made by a human being.
I was able to play it and finish it on PC in 2004 after playing Far Cry and it was ok at best IMO, the difference between its reputation and the actual game really shocked me.
Don't get me wrong though i'm glad that most of the series has been ported to PC finally, but it's just because i love the PC platform and i want it to have the best catalogue.
Far Cry 1 was goated in its time. The main menu with soundtrack alone is peak in the series.
Yeah the only thing that evolved is the system requirements, guess the last is UE5 made meaning it could been made in visual basic and still somehow been more optimized compared to whats on screen with todays hardware!
I liked halo 2 and 4 though. The interaction between cortana and chief was beautifully represented. I bet they're ruining it already in the rumoured remakes of all 4 games
2 yes, 4 HELL NO. The only thing that game did better is Cortana's visual design if you know what I mean. Everything else was terrible, as if it was a bad fan-made game made by fans who don't get Halo.
For sure, Cortana looked best in the series in 4 for me. Also I think it was 343's first mainline game and they did fine with it given there was already CoD ruling the fps genre so they tried to match with it. At this point, I'd say any older halo games are way better than whatever is coming from new halo studios in future
I played Halo 4 not too long ago since that was part of the Masterchief collection, and having played and replayed pretty much all the Bungie Halo games prior to playing 4, it was completely dookie. Even when evaluating it as a standalone FPS game and not a Halo one, it was mediocre all throughout. Trying to make it more CoD-like is entirely missing the point of making a Halo game. The only other positive thing I can say about it is that the graphics were certainly the best on 360 for its time, which was mainly thanks to the tech leadership of Corrine Yu who is not even in the video game industry anymore so it’s no surprise that subsequent Halo games by 343 were visually inferior compared to their contemporaries.
I liked Infinite’s campaign somewhat though despite many of its flaws. At least gameplay wise they somewhat tried even if they did chase some industry trends (open world, hookshot, dash/dodge, skill upgrades).
Infinite was okay, yeah. Its just people expected too much from it being the mainline Halo game after so long
Don't forget the first reveal trailer of Halo Infinite that set high expectations but just ended up being more of that "target render" bullshot garbage.
Halo is a super boring and super generic game.
Who cares what graphics it has.
low vs medium vs high ?
It's more like original artistic vision vs artists that don't get halo vs even more artists who don't get halo plus unreal engine blur and stutters
It's more like original artistic vision vs artists that don't get halo vs even more artists who don't get halo plus unreal engine blur and stutters
Oh boy, I can't wait for the campaign evolved masterchief collection for the next xbox that'll be remastered in stutter engine 6!!
OT:
See John, y๓ o๓ u literally encouraged even these (((g๓ ay J๓ e๓ w๓ ish companies))) to make AI slop, now sold for shekels too!
This was your article on Mortal Kombat and AI garbage:

You literally encouraged not only r๓ e๓ tar๓ ded no-name individuals on the internet to cash in on AI trash, but re๓ ta๓ r๓ de๓ d (((gay Jewish companies))) who are in charge of our games and on top of that ch๓ ar๓ ging us s๓ he๓ ke๓ ls for go๓ ys๓ lo๓ p like these now too!
Congratulations John! You the real MVP! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Really doubt John influenced anyone in any way. AI is taking over in all aspects of life, specially low brow art, and this story is just another company caught doing it. Ultimately John is just another striver looking to shekel max his internet portfolio.
Once the AI Bubble pops they'll all run away from it like their hair was on fire. It's not so much that AI is bad it's just that it is way overvalued like DotCom was back in the late 90's and still a immature technology. When the DotCom bubble popped everyone on Wall Street declared the DotCom business model was dead until Google and Netflix and Amazon started making money on the DotCom business model a decade later and now it is ubiquitous.
The same is true with the AI Bubble, it will pop and everyone will declare it is dead but after it matures over a decade it'll be useful and actually have value and will become ubiquitous.
I'm so glad I have my original Halo CE and Halo 2 Vista disks. I never want to play this UE5 trash.
Both these games you own are extremely broken ports that require heavy modding and tweaks to get them out of the mud, i don't like the series to be honest but i think MCC does a far better job than the original PC ports that were just quick cashgrabs handled by morons.
Halo 2 on MCC is still super broken if you play with the original visuals/sound.
Soul vs soulless vs demonic
Satanic would've fit better here SSS rank ๐
Gay – gayer – gayest of em all..f*kN fa**ot Jews!
Wow. These UE5 games/remakes are getting increasingly embarrassing.
I'm not into Halo at all, and I never played any of these games (except for a few min.), but after only 2 seconds, I knew already I preferred the 2011 version.
Original was fun, the master chief collection version more than triples the install size for just the base game, without even adding any of the sequels. Suffice to say I won't be buying new storage just to watch the same game stutter with new visuals.
Remakes and remasters replacing and changing the original core intention of design of the mechanics and art direction for popular or easy/familiar contemporary styles and mechanics because those who are remaking it haven't the first clue of what inspired the original works and why or are even purposely doing it to retcon/erase the original intentions and designers is the most soulless thing imaginable.
A circlejerk of Halo haters commenting on every Halo news. Why are you here?
Go ahead, tell us how the new remake is an improvement beyond the technical aspect…which i would argue even that doesn't meet the bar of any aceptable standard.
