Amazon’s MMORPG, New World, is currently under closed alpha phase and the team has released the first official gameplay video from it. As said, this video features alpha gameplay footage, meaning that it may not reflect the quality of the final game.
Unfortunately this is a very short video. It’s only one minute and simply showcases some of the game’s environments. So yeah, apart from watching New World’s visuals, powered by the Lumberyard Engine, there is nothing more going on in this particular video.
In New World, players will decide how to play, what to do, and whom to work with-or against-in an evolving world that transforms with seasons, weather, and time of day. The game promises to feature emergent gameplay and rich social features, including deep Twitch integration with broadcaster-led events, achievements, and rewards.
Enjoy!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. I hope it’s a battle royale shooter with building mechanics maybe with lootboxes and a robust microtransaction system to keep me grinding for dozens of hours a day. That’s gaming.
dead on arrival
The most impressive thing about it is that it doesnt look like WoW. Judging by the UI though, it will probably play like WoW.
Hardly any MMO these days has taken a step outside of WoW’s shadow. Almost all of the MMO’s out there rip a few pages from that MMO, without adding a massive amount to make them brand new or innovative, even BDO borrows from another genre to make itself look new.
Yes and that is why I cant get into MMOS any more. I was spoiled with Everquest until they bastardized that to be more like WoW and F2P.
Amazon? Ill pass.
Everytime I see one of these stupid 3rd person games with an off-centered character who’s half covered by the bottom of the screen (or additional HUD bs), makes me think the same console twerp who designed the first big hit on PS4 or XBox is now in charge of all the design decisions of new games…
Why is design going BACKWARDS?
I don’t give a F* about MMORPGs…but even then gotta say…This looks terrible! Seriously looks like a decade old game with few texture mods!
