Microsoft has released the first gameplay trailer for Age of Empires 4. This trailer packs pre-alpha gameplay footage, which obviously means that it does not represent the quality of the final product. As such, the game’s visuals may receive an upgrade (or a downgrade).
In Age of Empires 4, players will experience the epic, historical battles that shaped the modern world. From what we can see, the game will feature the Mongols and the English civilizations.
Unfortunately, Microsoft has not revealed any additional details about this new RTS. Until we get more information about it, you can go ahead and enjoy its gameplay trailer!

Knowing Microsoft it will probably be always-online or something, so temper your expectations, there’s still plenty of time for them to announce “the catch”.
I don’t know but to me it looks like they are making Age of Empire Total Wars?
I also thought this, though this is just a cinematic trailer so I expect gameplay to be different
I welcome any real competition against CA’s Total War games, it’s not like the genre is saturated, CA are about the only developers making games like that.

I like what i see and its only pre-alpha. I am really happy they doing this game, i hope they deliver on the gameplay, rts genre need more good games.
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition looks much better.
Not a fan of the artstyle, looks like a mobile phone game.

The Settlers style…….i am not convinced
They really killed the series with AOE Online, let’s see if they can revive it with this one. art style is meh but i like to build walls around my base.

The problem with this isn’t the artstyle even – it’s that it’s the same very dead RTS formula from ’90s
