First gameplay footage for Obsidian’s new survival game, Grounded, surfaces

At PAX East 2020, Microsoft and Obsidian presented a demo of their upcoming survival game with a twist, Grounded. As such, you can find below a video showing 15 minutes of gameplay footage from it.

This gameplay video focuses on some of the basic aspects of the game. Thus, you can get a glimpse of its building system, crafting, looting and combat system.

Furthermore, the game will allow players to build shelters by knocking down some tufts of grass. The game will also allow players to freely explore the game world. Players will have complete freedom in a sandbox environment. However, the game will also have a narrative component just to offer the right motivation.

As you may have guessed, the game will allow you to play online with other players, in public or private games. Moreover, it will come with an offline mode for solo players.

Enjoy!

  1. Survival AKA collect boring trash and craft even more boring trash to manage some bars? check

    Ugly characters? check

    Verdict? avoid.

      1. That’s the least of my worries, since Tim Sweeney already bought the game for me to pirate (if i cared about this game that is).

    1. I’m gonna find the database that house you and delete you Robo-Fernando, you’ve become way too aware. Your typing way more words and you even add emotes now. This cannot be allowed to continue.

  2. It looks quite generic, like something designed by committee after months and months of focus group tests.
I wonder which game will sell more, this one or the generic looter/shooter from PeopleCanFly.

    1. “designed by committee after months and months of focus group tests” – I really like how you think man. So freaking true. I’ve been reading your comments and you speak straight no nonsense. Cheers ? as for that PCF shooter, it’s with square Enix so Denuvo will be there forever and it looks generic as hell. These pew pew pew games have no soul.

      1. Exactly, these games have no soul. It’s like Ninja Theory, when they announced Bleeding Edge they said that they had that idea for years… but that thing is just another Overwatch clone with awful character design and generic looking maps.
If this is what they can do under Microsoft then they’re done, they’ve become another Rare and 343.

        1. Oh god, I look at bleeding edge & I weeped. That is NOT Ninja theory. Seems all the hardwork and innovation went into the way the characters look. The game is all art work and no gameplay. How can anyone call that a game. I played the beta just to see, uninstalled after 15 minutes. Its a disgrace, no soul. If you look at games like the division 2, loads of busy work/pew pew and no soul. No moments that you can look back on and say, “man, that was sick”.

The gaming industry is void of soul. Seems the same thing that happened to the art industry happened to the gaming industry. ..

          1. Is like they hire all this cheap and fresh out of college designers, that all have the same mindset.

      2. Exactly, these games have no soul. It’s like Ninja Theory, when they announced Bleeding Edge they said that they had that idea for years… but that thing is just another Overwatch clone with awful character design and generic looking maps.

  3. A survival game (wow so innovative) with Fornite aesthetics (wow so innovative, also disgusting).
