Crytek’s HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age has been renamed to Hunt: Showdown, gets new teaser trailer

Remember Crytek’s HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age? This title has been under development since 2014 and was supposed to be a third-person action game where up to four players band together to fend off an onslaught of bloodthirsty creatures and track down breathtaking bosses. And from the looks of it, Hunt: Showdown is a re-imagined version of it.

Crytek has not revealed any additional details, so we don’t know whether Hunt: Showdown will keep all the gameplay elements of HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age.

HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age was set in the late 1800s, and depicted a world where so-called myths and folklore pointed to the terrifying truth about evil lurking just beyond the fringes of day-to-day life. Players would act as hunters willing to take up arms and risk their necks by venturing into the deadliest of territories and facing the hideous creatures that have overrun them.

Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!

  1. Just watched gameplay on youtube, looks so awfully bad! What happened to Crytek? They used to make pretty decent games! This just looks so generic and bad.

    1. That gameplay is from back when crytek usa was the developer. But now seeing as they (new crytek or what’s left of the studio) have changed the name of the title they surely must also be revising the gameplay elements.
You can be sure that the final gameplay of this game is going to be different than what you currently saw at YouTube.
However, whether it will suck or not (though it probably will) that remains to be seen.

      1. That’s what I did, but it’s the same game is it not? They just changed the name. Still looks like sh*t.

        1. I’ve heard that the game has been revamped and is now an fps. Keep in mind that it’s visuals weren’t so bad given the time the original video was released. If the game still looks that bad, then god save us…

    2. “What happened to Crytek?”

Same thing that happened to so many others; they saw the dollar signs, went for multi-platform, & haven’t looked back since in their endless pursuit of “MOAR MUNIEZ!”

Unfortunately for them, unlike the others, their own attempts have overwhelmingly failed because their management is comprised of a bunch of imbeciles with no grand master plan, strategy, or whatever, so, yeah.

    1. I wish it were named Hunt: Bad Hugs. that has an interesting ring to it….and it could have free hugs signs ..and white vans (with no windows) that drive around and give free health kits..all ya gotta do is step inside the van for a second.

    2. How about Hunt: HODOR?

      Hunt [The] Hodor?

  2. After watching gameplay from 2014…I really hope that they fixed the animations, gun feel (punch), sounds and some interactions.

It looks like “The Evil Within” but cooperative which is not that bad if you think about it.

  3. I like what it was originally. It looked fun. The trailer’s giving me bad vibes though. Something tells me they’ve changed the design a lot and not for the better. Hopefully new gameplay comes out to prove me wrong.

  4. Shame that HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age might have been axed, That would have been a great 4 player co-op game!
