CEMU 1.6.2 significantly improves performance & game compatibility

The team behind the best WiiU emulator, CEMU, has released a new version of it and YouTube’s ‘reznoire’ has shared a video, showcasing some of its improvements. CEMU 1.6.2 significantly improves performance as some games run 2X faster with it.

In addition, this new version supports more games than its previous one.

To be honest, it’s quite amazing what the team has managed to achieve. Mario Kart 8, New Super Mario Bros U, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Yoshi’s Woolly World appear to perfectly playable.

Even more demanding games like Xenoblade Chronicles X and Bayonetta appear to be running fine on this new version of CEMU.

Enjoy the video!

  1. My body is so ready for Xenoblade Chronicles X. Just crossing my fingers that the frame penalty isn’t *too* bad given my CPU is 700mhz below recommended clockspeed.

      1. i keep hearing that, the original xb chronicles is the one with shulk right? is chronicles x really not that great? 🙁

          1. im not taking it as concrete but i wanna get real people opinions instead of biased review sites or the sites that think jrpgs should die off and make more room for shooters or open world games. i still think the jrpg has a rightful spot in the market and i loooove me some jrpgs

        1. Character classes are so similar to play that its boring. There is nothing like “magic based” class or “buff focused” class like Xenoblade Chronicles. Just spawn your orange and yellow arts and thats all…

Also, characters are basically humans (you have an alien or two, but gameplaywise are humans), with human classes and human equipment

The combat feels bland and shallow, even with the skells (mechs), and there’s no sense of cooperation with the AI unlike Xenoblade Chronicles

The story is generic (“oh no! The bad guys wanna kill us without reasons, so we need kill them” Thats the story, no plot twists at all or a developed story) and feels unfinished too (I’m sure Monolith thought about releasing chapters as DLC to conclude the story, but low sales prevented that)

There’s no character develovment, since you can only use your main character, Elma and Lin to progress in the story (and there are 19 playable characters, so you have 17 wasted characters since your main character have no dialogues) but the remaining two (Elma and Lin) do not have any kind of development neither

MMO-like grinding to get the post-game equipment. You need to spend hours killing the same enemy until it drops what you need to craft whatever you need

      2. I’ve quite enjoyed what I’ve played of it so far. I’m not expecting to be bowled over by it, but it’s fun. Framerates are still not great though – still needs a REALLY beefy CPU to run at playable framerates.

        1. Xenogears is good, but Xenoblade 2011 is better. Xenogears is too much video second disk and the character development doesnt even come close to Xenoblade.

  2. John you gotta make an article about Nvidia which introduced Telemetry on their latest drivers plus how to remove it

Nvidia sh?tting the bed once U_U

    1. Did somebody know what information are collected by NV telemetry? Or there will be again created conspiracy theories which will be considered as true by default and spreed by AMD fanboys? 🙂

    1. I’ve seen some footage and yeah, it works. You need a pretty powerful CPU though. A high clocked Intel modern CPU for acceptable framerate

  3. These people are making amazing progress in a short amount of time like PPSSPP. I wish these devs would help in the development of Citra. 3DS emulation is long overdue

  4. Interesting, Bayonetta 1 is kind of a hard game to find on wii u I think. They released Bayonetta 2, and in the special ed/first prints included Bayonetta 1 but I’ve never seen a copy of pt 1 sitting in a store shelf. I wonder how Bayonetta 2 plays will def have to chek this out.

  5. i want this only for bayonetta 1(i have a ps3 but i heard its the worst version there by a large margin)and bayonetta 2 and xenoblade chronicles X

  6. All I want is Zelda.
Gimme me emulator compatibility and I’ll track the physical or buy it on the bloody digital eshop. F it.

  7. Just gimme Bayonetta already. I’ve been stuck between emulating it or getting the PS3 version. And I’d rather gauge my eyes out than play the PS3 version…

  8. Wow the gains are amazing on this version! I’ll hold off from selling my WiiU for a while longer but I’ll soon be playing WiiU on my PC

  9. if there is no NX zelda then i will have to get the wii u version and emulate it. i know it’s switch but i dont like that name
