MARATHON feature

Bungie’s Marathon gets first in-engine footage

Bungie has just released the first in-engine teaser trailer for its upcoming game, MARATHON. Moreover, the team revealed that it will share the first gameplay trailer for it on April 12th.

MARATHON will be a sci-fi PVP extraction shooter. Players will assume the role of a cybernetic mercenary venturing into the unknown in a fight for survival and fortune.

Now I have to be honest here. I’m not a fan of extraction shooters. Not only that, but I’m not that impressed by the visuals I see in this teaser trailer. So, this isn’t a game that sparks my interest.

In my opinion, this could be a big hit or a colossal failure. After all, we’ve seen numerous PvP games biting the dust these past few years. On the other hand, this is a game by Bungie. So, we can assume that the gameplay and shooting mechanics will be great.

It’s a shame this new Marathon game is a PvP extraction shooter. The first Marathon games were single-player experiences. So, you’d expect a new Marathon game to be an SP. But, after Destiny’s success, Bungie is going all in with its online games. So, it will be interesting to see whether this gamble will pay off.

There is currently no ETA for when Marathon will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Enjoy the teaser and stay tuned for more!

  1. after Destiny’s success, Bungie is going all in with its online games

And they greatly mishandled that success.

I also was hopping for another SP Marathon.

  2. I wish them success but I guess considering their size they just have to do live service multiplayer projects to keep the lights on. I def wanted something more personal or intimate than an extraction shooter especially when firebreak is coming up in relative short order.

    1. "Would be really fun to play a solid Bungie MP game again."

the word "fun" has really been subjective for a long time hasn't it….
if it comes down to sales proving fun factor fortnite smashes everything.
and i don't know if it was actually fun that would be up to you to decide….

      "Halo Infinite is pretty mid."

it was actually better than the past 2 releases in my book. more story, larger map, more bosses. you could get as much as 40+ hrs of gameplay from the main campaign compared to a typical 6-7 hr campaign halo game. you get to play the brute chopper again which was absent in halo 4, Halo Reach.

the last Halo game Bungie made was actually Halo Wars and that game sucked a megaton. even Bungie failed at making their own games great again….

      don't know if that helps…..

    1. no shooter is made for women, they aren't interested in the whole concept.
it's the alphabet mafia making a game for themselves. they're literally showing a violent death from a woman's POV. it's masochistic and autogynephiliac content. troons. nothing but troons behind this. thankfully their sh*t never succeeds as it has no appeal, so this will likely be bungie's last game.

  3. Real doom pill here. From Bungie creator of the "#1 FPS Single player campaign trilogy" COMES….. Multiplayer slop ….. As a old dude, I just Just missed the "marathon" times( but ive played all the other classics) and the OG art appeals to me. SONY needed a SP/MP FPS franchise to match M$ofts line-up(solid). Just another modern Califonia Soyny failure.
