Doom feature v2

Brutal Doom v21 will feature new enemy and weapons, gets new developer diary

Modder ‘SGtMarkIV’ has released a new dev diary for the upcoming version of Brutal Doom. In Brutal Doom v21, the handgun will have its own ammo type that will be collected by a new zombieman variant, and players will be able to dual wield it.

Brutal Doom v21 will introduce a new type of enemy (Zombie civilians) and two new weapons; an axe and a submachine gun. The submachine gun has a higher fire rate than the rifle and comes with a bigger ammo clip, however it is less accurate and deals less damage.

This new version of Brutal Doom will also improve performance via some new tweaks that SGtMarkIV has implemented.

There is currently no ETA for when this new version of Brutal Doom will hit the Internet, however we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Enjoy!

  1. Thanks for the heads-up. Between that of this, Brutal Doom 64, Beautiful Doom, Doom 3 BFG Hi def, Doom (2016) and more there’s never enough Doom awesomeness to go around.

      1. I wish somebody would “talk to” Zenimax so to ask them why they didn’t allow id Software to feature proper modding with Doom (2016) and why they’ve still not confirmed whether the upcoming Quake Champions will ever feature such a thing!

        1. I honestly doubt it was ZeniMax’s call specifically, just the industry in general veering towards believing we’re all dumb-as-f*ck idiots who need to have our hands held from beginning to end, thus resulting in the “user friendly” SnapMap. That, & their desire to expand mods into the conturds market as well, meaning the usual bullsh*t about controller limitations also comes into play. CDPR has also diluted their mod tools in Witcher 3 by comparison to Witcher 2, however.

They’ve actually confirmed that QC will have them, but it’s not a launch feature (again), & they’re being moot on the details, for some reason, which is worrying, I agree, since they won’t even talk about whether or not they’re just going to do SnapMap 2.0, or if they’re going to give us actual, real tools to work with.

Either way, I doubt we’ll have the power to recreate Defrag, or some such other total conversion mod from Quake 3, sadly. Plus I’m fully expecting them to release Quake Champions onto consh*ts at some point, so there’s that to keep in mind, as well.

          1. To be fair though they really improved snapmap. Others would have let it as releases and moved on.

          2. Yeah, but on the other hand, should it have ever even been that bad, in the first place?

It’s like the FoV Slider from yesterday in Ghost Warrior 3; negligence versus incompetence. Once again I can’t decide which it is (assuming I were forced to choose one of the two), but nevertheless both are bad regardless, not just for us, but also for them.

And in id’s case, we’re actually talking about people that should hands down know how to do mod tools correctly, since they’ve multiple decades worth of history in this regard.

          3. My biggest problem with SnapMap was that it replaced traditional modding, when it should have complemented it. It’s fine to have that in there as a feature (mostly for console gamers, but still), but it ain’t proper modding by a long shot.

          4. That, too. I don’t know if SnapMap was just id being lazy, or id being negligent, but either way, we can only hope they’ve understood that this sh*t won’t work with Quake Champions, no matter what.

    1. none you can use freedoom. It even comes free with the latest version of bruta doom. The Version does not matter, you need a doom wad. doom, doom 2, plutonia experiment, TNT evilution. Any version of doom has a doom wad in it.

      1. The only exception are the bastardized WADS that come with DOOM 3 BFG Edition, they won’t work.

  2. So much work to appease the doom autists, just go mod another game already. Nothing against brutal doom, just his haters,

  3. Good points. I’d forgotten about half of those, at least. Here’s another one for the list; a Bethesda Launcher is also in the stages of Beta testing. At this rate, I wonder how long it’ll be before their egos grow big enough that they [also] pull their sh*t from Steam?

The next Elder Scrolls game, for example, would be great timing for this, indeed, as you pointed out…… at which point, f*ck me, they’d get all the pie, just like they no doubt want, no matter how sh*t the next Elder Scrolls turns out to be.

    1. Cheers, fella. Interesting info’ there re: a “Bethesda launcher” as I’d not heard of that. I wonder if they’d have the guts to go that route by having their own portal independent of Steam a la Battlenet but it wouldn’t surprise me if they do and use the next Elder Scrolls games a the vanguard to usher it in because that franchise would obviously have the traction to pull in many gamers despite any reservations they may have.

They’d be taking a risk by doing so alongside that of monetising mods in addition to barring the use of mods from anywhere but their own portal. I suspect they’ll seek to cushion the blow with some smart PR and token compromises, e.g. initially allowing certain categories of mods to remain free but over the longer term subsequently transitioning all mods to a paid model.

Perhaps another strategy would be for them to offer ‘free’ mods to those who subscribe to an ongoing subscription service while leaving non-subscribers to pay for mods. Some smart marketing could advertise it as ‘Season Pass Plus’. We’ve seen how Sony and Microsoft’s marketing machines have fooled console gamers in to referring to their PS Plus/XBLG games as being ‘free’ while having to pay for something that was previously free so maybe Zenimax may feel that gamers including PC gamers would also be gullible enough to fall for such a ruse if they did what I’ve outlined above.

  4. I am archiving far cry 4 maps because i dont trust ubisoft to keep their servers running forever. Which means when they shut them down, no one can download any maps.
