Bloodborne looks unbelievable on PC in this latest comparison

Last month, we informed you about the release of shadPS4 Version 0.3.0. That version of the PS4 emulator packed all the visual improvements that its team has been making for Bloodborne. And, from the looks of it, a new version is already out. Not only that but Bloodborne now runs better than ever on shadPS4. In fact, it’s almost on par with the PS4 and PS5 versions.

So, here is a video comparison between the PS5 version and the PC version of Bloodborne. The PS5 version is basically the PS4 version, without any PS5 enhancements. On the other hand, the PC version is the game running on shadPS4 V0.3.1.

What’s crucial to note is that the PC version is the vanilla version. In other words, it doesn’t have the HD Texture Packs we shared last month. So, basically, the PC version can look way better than what is being shown here.

From what I can see, the only thing that the PC version is missing is the fog. Once the shadPS4 team manages to fix this, the emulated version will be on par with the PS4/PS5 version. Again, this is nuts. I wasn’t expecting Bloodborne to be feature-complete on shadPS4 until late 2024. However, here we are in October with a game that is almost fully emulated.

Not only that but performance still appears to be great. I still can’t believe that Bloodborne runs with 60fps on shadPS4. I mean, older PlayStation consoles have major issues with their emulators. Yet here we are with a PS4 emulator that runs silky smooth. It’s unbelievable.

Now I’m sure that there might be places in which emulation is not that great. The biggest issue was the “overbloomed lighting” which has been fixed. Moreover, the game can be played from start to finish. Yup, it seems that it’s fully playable on PC via shadPS4.

As said, you can also download HD Texture Packs which can improve the quality of the game’s textures. Right now, there are two must-have packs. The first pack overhauls numerous textures, whereas the second one focuses on armors.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Bloodborne on PC is Getting Closer to Completion

  1. Just deserts. The clowns at SONY had a golden egg with BloodBorne and it could have sold millions on PC (alone) and PS5 with a simple and a decent remaster, but now it doesn't matter.

      1. 400 million dollars 8 years in development, it was called "the future of playstation" and compared to star wars, no one was allowed to criticize it, it was gonna feature spin offs and movies and tv shows….and no one cared.

    1. Hell, it would have moved PS5 units if they simply did a PS4 Pro patch that unlocked the frame rate. They did it for Dark Souls 3 which uses the same engine, but Bloodborne got left behind.

You can unlock the frame rate by jailbreaking the PS5, but that only works on consoles with an outdated firmware and you can't revert back once you update to newer versions.

  2. I thought this would have been more playable sooner but thankfully there is plenty else to play in the wait. Im still hopeful itll be in a better state that requires less user end tinkering by the end of the year.

      1. The pace at which it had gone from menu boots in the wrong color to in game was so fast I figured it would be in a more ready state sooner and lost a $10 bet with a friend.

  3. I said it gonna look better in a few months and here we are. I'm almost certain this emulator will progress far more rapidly than any other. But damn Sony! you just can't give people the one little game they've been asking for almost a decade and continue wheedling the remasters/remakes on PC nobody asked for. What a shameful strategy.

    1. Its definitely weird but I think they are just going back onto what is easier to produce first to fill product release timings while the work on other projects is being done. I also wonder if they have taken the mentality similar to nintendo or capcom where they just wont produce the remasters/remakes people want because the reception for them was no where near an arbitrary threshold.

      1. I suspect the scenario happening here. The most obvious, they're pushing the releases that are filling the quota & banking the most out of it. So the games people actually demanding are on hold until the storm clears after election & things change for good. After that people will see games like Shadow of colossus, The last guardian, Gow3 etc., and I'm sure they're gonna sell well given the port is good

        1. After the election? Change for good? What does the elect … actually nevermind. I’d just hope they get to ports or at least some better compatibility tool for these older titles to be playable on modern hardware beyond just buying a PS5. I guess until then we just have to wait till the emulator is in a much better state. It’s sad but we’ll probably be able to play a lot of those titles sooner on the emulator than natively on a PC.

    2. Well i guess you were right on that one, hope it will be as good for other games too, anyway, it's one hell of a start for this emulator and that's very good news

    3. alot of that has to to with x86 architecture and dxvk translating from directx to vulkan, this is what open the gates to this.

      1. So in other words..this emulator can get better and faster improvements compared to RPCS3? Right?
I wonder if Lossless Scaling or Special K / RTSS works with this! Future sounds promising! I wanna play The Order 1886!

  4. Particles and visual effects are clearaly missing on the emulator, things like hit sparks, the charge attack effects, blood effects, the dust cloud when cleric beast jumps and probably more.

That being said, is crazy how fast this is going and how good it actually runs, even if it stays in the current level of performance is already a much better experience than on PS4.

  5. How Sony could have actually killed MS. All games released on Vulkan API with a storefront and investing in mostly Asian Asian developers.

What Sony did after their entertainment division got hijacked by people who aren't even Japanese. Make activist games and then doubled down thinking people would want to play that crap in live service games with TLOU online, Concorde, Fairgame$, Horizon Zero straights online. Those games development, failures and future failures alone are probably a billion dollar loss.

They also helped MS releasing all PC games on Direct X and strengthening an API that was in real danger of collapsing. So did Sony even release the right games on PC? Nope. They released games that failed on PS with an audience due to mentally ill people like Neil Druckmann hijacking companies, when they could have had people remaster Bloodborne, funded a Bloodborne 2, released Demon Souls and not went woke on their actually promising new IP's like Ghosts of Tsushima.

Sony is on a speedrun to bankruptcy. They have no future as PC Gaming continues to grow and the Asian companies they could have fostered relationships or outright bought all went multiplat. They have nothing to profit off of when they don't just make better games. Their new games won't sell on PC at all because of a delayed release where people know the games have been hijacked by activists. No one wants Nadine in Uncharted. No one wants TLOU2 on PC and that will lose money just making a PC version. No one will buy a woke KOTOR remaster, no one will buy Ghosts 2 woman samurai boogaloo.

    1. are you me? agreed 100%, its amazing I remember watching the ps5 console reveal and cerny saying " given *** & *** it will enable our devs quicker turnaround" and i looked into the tech and it should have ……Now 5 years later only insomniac has made 1+ new games. mismanagement ftw. I guess it might actually be a blessing given now Retar*ed they've become. I used to be a sony fanboi, killzone, resistance, sly cooper, etc. now we get live-service slop with fat Blak Stronk wahmen or man jaw dykes.

      1. Sony just released what feels like their first real new franchise in 2 decades with Astro Bot, and I don't think they succeeded bc of themselves, they succeeded bc Team Asobi was left alone to just make a great game. Sony used to be known for their great single player experiences, and it seems like forever since they made one that wasn't in an existing franchise.

        1. but $400000000 into Cuntcord, No killzone trilogy remaster on psvr/ps5/pc(it be easy*). or even better socom(tactical CoD) or syphon filter(splinterCell) reboots.

  6. They had a 9 years window to make a sh*tload of easy money, and now they want to remaster Horizon Zero Dawn instead as if it was interesting to begin with, thinking they can bait the PC community same as they bait the PS5 peasant…
Hope the guys who made those disastrous decisions will all get fired.

  7. At least sony hasn't done a nintendont strategy so far. BTW ryujinx taken off github today, and of course nintendont suing palworld, thus ensuring that early leaking to roms of thier games will continue for the foreseeable future and the hydra of emus will continue.

  8. This is very impressive indeed!
The speed at which the progress was made to the point where it's being compared side-by-side with PS5, and actually looking sharper/better, just wow!
