Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown gets new screenshots & gameplay video

NACON and KT Racing have released a new set of screenshots and a gameplay video for Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown. These screenshots will give you an idea of the visuals that this new Test Drive game targets. Moreover, its gameplay video will give you a taste of what you can expect from it.

Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown will feature a 1:1 scale recreation of Hong Kong Island. According to the developers, the game will retain the DNA of previous games while introducing a contemporary vision of the multiplayer racing genre.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown promises to feature the most eye-catching cars from a range of manufacturers, including the most prestigious: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Dodge, Apollo and many others.

Players will be able to freely explore the island or take part in various competitions. Moreover, there will be a heavy focus on customization and on social experience.

NACON announced this new Test Drive game in 2020. And, ironically enough, the game was originally targeting a 2022 release date. However, here we are in the middle of 2023 with our first proper look at the game. Better late than never I guess.

Lastly, the publisher has not revealed any release date for this upcoming open-world racing game. KT Racing hasn’t also shared any PC system requirements for it. Or at least its official Steam store page does not list any of them yet.

For what it’s worth, we haven’t received yet a press release from NACON (regarding this first gameplay video). Thus, there is a chance that we might get a release date later tonight. If that happens, I’ll be sure to update this article.

NACON has just sent us a press release, stating that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown now targets a 2024 release date. Additionally, the publisher stated that it will launch the first closed beta phase on July 24th, 2023.

    1. Yup!
Looks terrible! Also, it’s like everyone is trying to copy what Forza Horizon did…and failing!

      1. yeah, they think that’s the new battle royale that hasn’t been patented. so they wanna lean in on that buck.

  1. I appreciate it when game companies make their games as “games”. And Hong Kong. Been craving for it since sleeping dogs. Looks good enough for me. Just be it single player and moderate requirements and it’ll be a blast to play.

    1. Didn’t have the courage to see it through, so I’ll just gonna believe you on this.
I saw that the game is NFS Underground with fewer steps, though.

    2. They know what they did doing with that women. The hips were talking to me the whole time. I wonder if she’s interested in being a single mom? 🤔🤪😁

    1. Her whole demeanor gives off a vibe of a person abducted and forced to work for her captors. There’s something clearly off.

  2. initially it looked like nfs 2015, nope its more like most wanted 2012, including the graphics. No customization, gameplay looks generic, best thing in the video was the pants she wore that showed how wide her carriage is…and black pantha sucking at driving and crashing his car like always.

  3. Dafuq is this shït? Are we back in 2008 and no one told me?
I didn’t even know this thing still existed and after seeing this BPOC I can say that it shouldn’t exist indeed.

    1. No engine, they are just writing pixels to the screen directly with the CPU. It’s the only explanation for how it looks like 2010 and runs at 20 fps. You can see it stutter and jitter constantly in a 30 fps video, and then a “racing expert” says the driving is fun. Bizarre video.

  4. Why arcade racing games still exist is beyond me. In my personal opinion, arcade racing games should be incorporated in games like GTA, basically any open world first/third person game set in a city.

I remember playing GTA-3 and thinking that NFS days are over. They are kind of – I don’t recall having fun playing a NFS game since Porsche Unleashed.

  5. No offense to American here, but American look SO weird and cringy. Seriously.
They dress bad, their hairstyle is horrible, they all behave like very effeminate gays even when they’re straight, and they reek of low testosterone… What a horrible sight.
I would never date any of those guys, they’re so repulsive, and I don’t understand why they can’t realize it.
As for the female host, she looks like she was generated by A.I..

The game looks unoriginal as hell.
We’ve already got the Forza Horizon games now, so…
That’s the problem when a specific genre becomes crowded.
Maybe this game would have interested me 10 years ago, but now…

If only there were bikes! Now THAT would be something we don’t often see in open-world games like that.
If I want bikes, I have… GTA V, but controls are so unrealistic…
    FUEL… It’s from 2009… What else?
